That is not true, friend.

Why do you think it was a gargoyle?

I am quite open to all possibilities - it was a very strange night

RE: Has anyone had encounters with forest-dwelling fairies?
Back to the topic...

I've never seen any fairies...of any sort.

However, while sitting on a log one time...all quiet like.

Some chipmunks came out from hiding...began to do their chipmunk things...

Well, they are very observant little things...evidently.

Because even though I had been super quiet...somehow they managed to sense my presence...and became very annoyed with me.

They began chirping and squeaking...I can't be absolutely sure on this...

...but I believe the were planning on killing me.

Needless to say, I didn't stick around much longer to find out...I sprang up and made a mad dash for safety...arms all flailing in the air.

...and the occasional girlish scream. Anon

It was intense...and I count myself very fortunate to be alive and to have escaped with my dignity intact...

Mostly.

Yes, when I was on acid a long time ago.

It was night and we were staying at a beach house under a lighthouse. I got the urge to climb up the hill to get to the lighthouse above us. I had to go through a windy path surrounded by jungle in the pitch black (except when the light from the lighthouse hit it). The path was like a tunnel -- trees, vines and bushes on ether side and above me. Only occasionally could I see the stars through the canopy.

Half way through my climb, I saw elfish creatures in the forest on either side of the path. They weren't happy that I was trespassing and I could see some of them talking to each other. I couldn't quite hear what they were saying but I could read their body language and expressions. Not happy. LOL. I smiled and gave out telepathic thoughts that I meant them no harm. I felt there was lots I could learn from them but I didn't feel welcome so continued on.

I saw lots of creatures on that climb. There were huge spiders in the trees above me, real bats and snakes slithering out the way and lots of scurrying in the bushes from other small animals and eyes flickering in the darkness were everywhere. When a beam from the lighthouse passed, their eyes all lit up. It would have been pretty if I wasn't so scared.

I made it to the top but was too frightened to come down again so I stayed up there till sunrise. By then, the elves were gone. Sleeping I suspect.

Earlier on in the night, I saw a crazy ufo after a friend and I tried an intention experiment.

Shortly thereafter I altered my consciousness and started tuning into my surroundings a bit more.

During the fairly-like incident, the dogs that were out camping with me started going crazy, barking at at the invisible..

Did I have a close encounter with the machine elves?

No, but I know they prefer the term "homosexual".

Not at Rainbow Gatherings. They definitely have a fairy camp and yes, I encountered them in the forest!! Scream1 Scream1 Scream1

Ah, wish I could see some forest fairies, besides the ones I worked with long ago at a Renaissance Festival. But I do see a lot of bugs, crawling on these pages. At least the second page of this thread escaped the bugs. What's with the bugs, anyway? They're about as welcome as jiggling camera shots on tv. Why the crawling bugs? Sign to bug out?

Gnome.

This thing was running so fast that I thought it was a gnome.

Is it common for a gnome to do that sort of thing?

Well mine was pretty fast, now that you mention it.

Perhaps you should read up on George Washington Carver, he said many of his ideas came from walking in the forest at dawn and talking to the little people.

So I was enjoying a nice fire last night out in the woods near my camp when I started feeling a strong presence around.

There were many noises about an hour after twilight that I started to tune into.

At one point, I meandered about 20 feet away from my camp where there is a clearing with a nice view of the night's sky.

This is when I very loud swooshhhh sound made its way from my west and landed basically right at my feet. At this point, I vividly recall seeing strange black, claw-like feet land right before my own feet, then 'pit-pat' away, which made a fading out sound. Whatever this was, it was heavy enough to substantially shake the ground I was standing on. This was no bird...

The strangest part was that I have no recollection of seeing a body at all attached to these claw-like feet, which I honestly watched make about 20 steps to the east of me.

Does anyone know of any typical signs or behaviors of fairies, particularly how they might approach or communicate with someone out in the woods?

As a boy I saw two of them at Hampstead Heath
