The government has decided that in order for me to retire with full benefit I have to be 70 years of age. Geesus. I am 60. I worked 40 years in construction. My body is done. I mean I worked. I was not a pencil pushing skirt chaser. I worked my ass off, like many of my brothers.

f*ck the government and their NEW rules. Soon they will kiss MY ass.

This just has me so pissed.

I agree with you. 16 years or nursing was all it took to do my body in.
There is no way I could work in an active job 40 hours a week now.

There is nothing like starting all over again in a new line of work mid aged! S977

I know what you mean. I have one of those "real jobs" I'm 52 and don't figure I'll make it past 62 (I plan to take early retirement) f*ck the extra 400 bucks a month. I won't live long enough to get it. chuckle

I am only 44 and body is all tore up from logging for many years. I don't know if I will make it 70 for their measly little payback of all the years I paid in.

Yea... when did this change happen? It should only affect those before a certain age.

I'm almost 56 now, and have always had physical jobs. Last I checked, I can retire at 62 and plan on it.

I sometimes think I should have been a cop instead of a mechanic.

For various reasons, not least is the 20 year stint,

Concrete contortion puts a lot of stress on the cartilage.

Sorry to hear this, it happens to so many... I retired from a school district with PERS and a teamsters contract at 52... I did it because I knew if I waited I would not stand to gain a lot at age 65 or 70.... This way I can collect as long as I live. A bit less sure, but I get it now when I can actually use it. I still have to work and have found a different job... My advice to those who are able... Take the earliest retirement possible and just continue on.
