I don't think we can assume the doors were alarmed all the time or at all.

Many emergency exits ARE alarmed but that doesn't mean they have to be.

I used to walk out of movie theaters using the emergency exits all the time when I was a teenager - no alarm ... and many theaters let the crowd out of those doors after the movie.

To me, it's likely that he went out and propped the door open to come back in.

But nothing else about the whole thing makes any sense to me, fwiw.

ok for those that missed my posts in the original pinned thread that followed the event.

The exit door was a fire rated door, for pedestrian egress.

It is a electronic latch integrated with a push bar over ride mechanism.

The door is tethered to the door frame, and has a automatic door closer that is required to close that door.

Because this door can be disabled electronically the pushbar can be locked out.

The force exerted on the door in the return position is enough to overcome any object less then about 10 pounds, because it is a hydraulic return mechanism, not a spring.

Also on the door frame are magnetic contacts the signal to the security system anytime the door is opened and closed, there is a running log of all events.

This system also alerts security of the door is open for more that 30 seconds on average, but can be adjusted for a longer period, that it might take a large number of people to exit using this door.

The alarm alerts the security that it has been propped open, basically, as its against fire code.

Also on the door closer mechanism there is a mechanical stopper that can be tighten to prop the door open for maintenance reasons, but that requires someone to be able to reach the top of the door frame while holding it open and using a wrench or L wrench depending on the brand.

I use a latter to prop the door open and then use the tool to adjust the open and return mechanism or lock the door open.

Because i see a staircase next to the door i assume there is another door for either the riser exits, or the second floor has theaters also.

But on a opening night for such a big movie and at midnight, there are always ushers guarding these doors, so no one sneeks in, where are the usher witnesses, the employees, the security guards.

This was a drill, but they made it more real by killing people and dropping the patsy outside.

Also with the weapons, neither the ar15 or the shotgun had a sling on them or the rail had no eyelets for one, how do you shoot and hold 2 weapons, and where is the drum, when the ar15 has a mag in it?

Also because NSA has all records of cellphone transmissions they could easily find out who or what was said, even if it was a throw away phone.
