How to tell if you are an ideologue
Ideologues are people who cling to ideas despite reality. Here's a simple test to self-diagnose:

1. For each idea you believe of major import, if your answer to the question "What would it take to demonstrate that the idea is wrong?" you're answer is similar to any of the following, you get the listed number of points. Remember, this is for each such idea.

a. "I don't know" (i.e. you've never thought about it, but you're open) = 5 points
b. "Nothing" (i.e. you believe the idea can't be disproved) = 15 points
c. "The fact that you ask demonstrates an error in your thinking" = 25 points
d. You name a specific thing = (-15 points)
e. You name a specific thing, but later dismiss the evidence when presented to you = 35 points
f. You name a specific thing, and when the evidence is presented to you, you conclude you were wrong = (-25 points)
f. You name a specific thing, but it's impossible = 25 points

Here's an idea to get you started. Remember, it's a self-test, so be honest about it.
"Man made global warming is a hoax."

If intelligent people avoid you or make up reasons why it's time to go.

RE: How to tell if you are an ideologue
Many ideologues are intelligent people, so I don't think it's a good test. Objectivists, for example, are often highly intelligent. Yet, many exhibit symptoms of being an ideologue. I have indeed been told, that my having merely posed a question indicated an error in, not just my thinking, but my very psycho-epistemology.
