Huge 5-day storm set to hit the UK
A offshoot of tropical-storm Nadine is now inbound towards the UK, ladened with moisture and 'bombing' into numerous frontal systems that will cross the UK throughout the coming days up until Friday. 50mm expected in places on Monday with 50-60mph gusts inbetween, coastal storm surges in the NorthEast and threat of snows across Scotland.

Amber warnings (second only to Red) in place, and likely to be upgraded for other parts into tomorrow. Autumn has arrived.

Not making much mainstream news atm given the weather Models are still trying to make sense of it all (even 24hr out) but it's expected the low will swing NE across the uk bringing the milder conditions to the south (ladened with moisture for heavy rains up until Weds) before it swings westwards into the Irish Sea where it'll stall and spiral colder Norwegian air down from the north.

Local and National weather reports covering the basics so far, but in agreement some 50mm of rain for tomorrow combined with strong winds and flooding for the next 5 days.

Thanks English-Hermit, I'm down south. I think I'm going to hunker down for a few days.

Also today 1 killed at Kew Gardens (central London) as tree branch falls.

I'm in the Netherlands, not too far away. I confirm today we have had very strong winds, reports of damage already on the news. Its blowing pretty strong outside at the moment. Alot of sporadic rain and hail.

It's battered the garden here today (up north). Wildflower garden, sweetcorn, black Kale, brussels sprouts all flattened. Arse.

Ah well, such is life! Could be worse.

It's a bit soon for such a howler though.

Everything is permitted

RE: Huge 5-day storm set to hit the UK
chuckle yeah but us Brits like to complain about the weather. Since Sunday evening it's been non-stop rain here, luckily living in the hills we don't have to worry much about flooding other than along banks of tributary rivers or ground saturation.

Gotta feel for the hundreds facing the threat of evacuations on floodplains further down to lower levels, especially given the floods back in Spring/early Summer.

Over 70 flood warnings in force across England, Scotland and Wales. Some towns under evacuations and many routes impassible due to standing water.
Still another day of this to come and the Models showing Nadine to re-intensify into a Hurricane (currently moving SW from the Azores) before it too will sweep across the UK in the early week of October albeit post-tropical.
