as for your sink...be careful. some modern synthetic materials will stain permanently(if you try to wash out paint brushes in the sink for instance). best to stick with something basic and time tested.

Whatever material you get make the color copper, as in "copper brass". That way, in a SHTF scenario and you have to hole up you can quickly clamp a reloading press to it and crank out some rounds while having a nice cup of coffee. LOL.

Naw seriously I would never spend the THOUSANDS of dollars for granite or fancy stone, etc. Seems to me to be a waste of money, I am all about practicality...on a budget.

Cheers

End thumbs up Omega. you one smart cookie. something practical that looks good would be best.

watch HGTV jf

...i drool over the remodels

the concrete is a very cool concept..and silestone wont stain like other tops and you can put hot crap on them.

of course i have a shitty kitchen from the early 70's Anon

formica! Scream1 doomed

i really want to try to contact hgtv and see if i can get a re-do .. how do people get on the shows?

how big is your kitchen jf? well counterspace...
hgtv is a carpenter's worst nightmare...too many home owners watch it and get craazy ideas that aren't feasible in their particular home, and when the carpenter tries to duplicate it(because the home owner is always correct) the home owner most often isn't happy with the result, as compared to what they saw on tv. please take hgtv with a grain of salt, just like all tv programming.

good advice A2k i do take it with a grain of salt..and know you can't replicate everything

my kichen is 10'x10' all i would want is simple updating and new cabinets
nothing crazy Wink

everything works though so hell i can live with harvest gold doomed

this is so totally my line of expertise. i like harvest gold, despite the fact that i replace it every day. i like the aura/feel of real wood(chuckle) it's a damn shame that people want to rip it out or "reface" it with synthetic materials. i don't understand why people want to go with dark stained wood in their kitchens now days...when i rip out golden or harvest colors of oak in favor of say, almost maroon stained maple or hickory it makes me sad...and the result is a kitchen that looks like a doomey gloomey cave. kitchens were ment to be bright happy places.

Dude sometime we have to go target shooting.. It would be a fricking blast... Make it a weekend thing we could shoot all weekend at the Palmyra sportsmans Association.. I am not rich But I could spring for your flight to Pa and put you in a motel for a few.. I never go on vacations but I would consider this one for Mee..

quartz looks good.

My counter top space is very limited..(Small kitchen).. I am under 20 Sq ft...If you count where the double sink goes it is under 15 sq...So I want to tie it in with the Slate tile floor that I will put down..(The same as I put in the Downstairs).. Tough to try and make everything match...

Are you installing the countertops yourself?

I'm also curious as to what it's going for $$ per square foot.

This or Granite; benefit of natural stone it stays colder, and you can put hot pans directly on it without any worries.

If you bake at all, having a cold counter to roll out your dough on is a huge blessing. For this reason professional bakeries use marble.

I did mine with tile. It was cheap and easy plus you can cut on them and sit hot stuff on them.

Also did my bar with them.

very nice work.. I did my bathroom in a Black slate tile and Marble.. I put a grey slate in the Entrance (and Front porch steps) way as well as around the Fireplace floor in the Living room.. The same grey 12x 12 pattern is in the finished basement..I will tie it all together by putting the same grey tile on the floor and a 6x6 version as my back splash...
