Do you cock sucking fuckheads realize that unemployment money is not welfare? He paid into unemployment just like everyone who works does.

So f*ck you, its his money and it does run out. its not his fault the govt taps into the unemployment fund and spends it on shit. Theyre not supposed to do that ya know.

No, f*ck you. He's a leech, had an opportunity for a new job and this is a terrible bait thread.

People on unemployment should have to show up at some place and shovel sand from one pile to another, 40 hours a week. Or lose their handouts.

Same goes for welfare addicts. Having kids is not an excuse. A bus will pick you up. One of the welfare moms will watch the kids while the rest move sand.

Don't like it? Starve.

the gov't has extended unemployment benefits way too long, so as to be a disincentive to work. When I collected unemployment, only twice in my life, it was 26 weeks max, then yer done. They let these folks slide too long and paid out too much in benefits, simple math, they have to cut. My best advice is still get off it as quickly as possible and stay in the work stream.

Risk losing your benefits as in health/dental/401k and so on or benefits as in unemployment benefits? If it's the second of the two, f*ck you and take the f*cking job.

Unemployment of course silly.

Then take the f*cking job and stop being a god damned leech.

The goddamn leeches pay into the system but I guess your blind hatred wouldn't know that.

Oh and take the f*cking job you leech!

I've actually never taken a day of any government benefit. I was just posting this boondoggle,
"Hypothetically".
This is f*cked up but somehow it does not surprise me a bit.

RE: I found a job but I'm not sure I won't to lose my benefits..
Depends how the new job is structured: Is it straight commission, salary or hourly pay?

If it is the former, simply agree to take commission payments the week after your UE ends and you can collect all of it. Employers like this since they get to use their own money interest-free for a longer period of time and place it on their "working capital" balance sheet so it isn't a hard sell. Just make sure you have a signed contract as to your commission rates. As the minority of posters wrote on this thread, you DID pay for it as did you former employer who laid you off so it is technically your money. The rest of the posters are simply placing their own personal hubris over practicality. It's your money so you should take all of it. Any businessman/businesswoman would do the same. Pride doesn't pay the electric bill.

If it is salary of hourly, it provides more of an issue. If you don't mind me asking: how much UE do you have left? If the potential employer is trustworthy, you can ask to defer payment or simply ask for a later start date.

I've gone through this personally a few years ago and emerged successful. PM me if you would like to discuss it in more detail.

Take the job.

I was on welfare for 3 months and I hated the idea other hard-working people having to cover my expenses.

Some people would envy you so much just having a job offer.

Government does not pay for this. Employers and in some states, employees pay into it also. That's why it is called unemployment insurance.

It amuses me that people are bent about someone getting a pittance few hundred dollars a week that they paid into for year before getting laid off, yet bailing out banks to the tune of trillions of USD elicits the same response. I'd MUCH rather handout billions to those who were terminated by greedy corporations so that their stock can go a fraction of a dollar higher - they are going to spend every penny in their communities, thereby creating economic stimulus.

Meanwhile the banks get trillions and don't lend since they are getting free money (0-0.25%) and turning around and buying T-bills for 2.5-3.3% - free profit that only serves to screw the rest of the country that actually works for a living.

I agree with welfare, foodstamps etc: those should be limited and have a DOE. Those things actually do burden taxpayers like the rest pf us. UE does not. Get over it.
