I live near a lake that has a lakefront motel with free Wi-Fi. I go down there at night and watch the stars while playing Pandora radio. I even splurged and bought the $36 upgrade for Pandora that makes it sound better with no ads. That's for a year so it's only $3 a month. I don't mess with CD's or mp3's so it was well worth it for me. CD's used to be $9.99 for a discounted price... With Pandora, it's like I have a million CD's...

Now that's a cool use for it. Only thing about Pandora I didn't like is that after a certain number of "skip this song" requests, it told me I couldn't skip any more for that day. Ugh.

I'm sure I'll find something, but so far the phone only gets used in the bathroom. LOL

If you're paying for pandora, you get 5 skips per hour per station... Just make a lot of similar stations....

So far none of the ROMs I've tried have been to my liking.

I tried Cyanogen, Steeldroid and Miui and didn't really like any of em.

And whatever ROM i have right now, the Market doesn't work. I think it's Liquid ROM?

Just a disaster, this phone. A working brick. I even looked into selling it... ha! I think I got quoted like $5 for the thing. LOL

What you got? I might be interested.

Original Droid. I guess that's what - five or six years old now? It's pretty useless, I understand the OS hasn't been updating for like a year. Obsolete and then some. Good for parts tho... if there's actually anybody out there interesting in repairing a five year old phone. LOL

My first smart phone... and my last one too. I refuse to play the high tech addiction game any longer.

I always said when my contract ran out that I would take a sledgehammer and smash my phone, probably youtube it and upload it for kicks.

But instead, I ran like 2 years over the contract paying month to month, and when I finally did tell em to shove it, I couldn't bring myself to smash what is otherwise a perfectly good "phone" (or CPU, really).

I just can't seem to find a good use for it except the rare occasion I'm out and about and have time to waste while I'm near a wifi hotspot.

Did anyone root their phone? What neato things can I do with a rooted droid?

Go to "XDA Developers website" type your phone type in and have fun. Been running rooted phone for years, no data i use Sygic for gps download all maps to sdcard for later use, no data required. You can do more with an android phone than any other device, that's why the Mil. is developing this type of device over ios or anything rim/pim. Currently running JellyBean rom on my Inspire4g which came with Gingerbread.
Remember to read and reread the post when flashing a new rom it will save you alot of headaches.
What can i do with my phone, tv remote, scanner radio, run linux operating system on my phone, it currently has Linux emulator installed.
PS3 CONTROLLER
Wifi router, wifi explorer, just use address shown on device no wire transfer to and from your pc.
Bluetooth, wireless transfer with much more capability.
vsync where you touch your phone to another for data transfer.
I could go on for hours, the advantage's are only limited by the hardware on your device.
Best Buy was selling 16g SANDISC cards for $18.00 these are class ten cards, the best transfer rate out, remember transfer rate is what determines how well everything plays and how fast data transfers on your device. FYI Most android phones can run a 64g cards.
