I had just went out to feed the cows and looked up and saw an ever growing cloud billowing up in the sky and it had lightening come out of it. It was awsome. I of course ran back in the house yelling my head off that the mountain had blown. Never heard the boom we were so close it went right over us. We lived about 18 miles from Mt St Helens.

My dad worked at camp Baker for Weyerhaeuser so the next day we took the logging roads(bypassed all the road blocks) up into the red zone and it was pretty wild seeing all that the moutain had done.
I got out of 5th grade early and had a long summer vacation due to the mountain. Got hit with a couple ash clouds from later eruptions and that wasn't much fun.The mountain blowing changed my families life thats for sure. I have been a Doomtard ever since.

I got to witness it from the foothills as well. I was on my way back from a dirtbike/overnight campout with 5 other kids and as we crested a logging road on the ride back (from a safe distance) we saw it blow. I raced home and watched the rest of it on the news.

I lived about a mile from the mouth of the Toutle river, so later I went down to watch all kinds of stuff wash down. There were guys pulling salmon out of the river with their hands. I think the fish couldn't see or it was too warm or both. But they were swimming right into the banks of the river where they could be grabbed.

We were heading up I-5 to Seattle about an hour after it let loose...what a sight for a kid....I still have a jar of that nasty ash somewhere I collected on the trip back.

Just think if Yellowstone were to erupt. I think that could be one that could end a lot of lives! here is a picture of what they THINK the cloud would be like. Note the tiny Mt ST. Hellens one at the upper left....

Yep, about 2-3 miles north of 4-corners....just a trail ride to the cowlitz.

A dirtbike is a blessin if manic, apple only ting tong once.

It´s way better if 2 mucho power though, I problem with a 2 500cc 2stroker.

125cc Yamahhew much better, and not 10hp ver
It make confidence?, not sure why, but I was safe with all that wild power.

Rpm perhaps, have 2 be on the edge, not many even know 125cc can carry 70+ hp.
