Yes, I respect his legacy.

I've read his autobiography (and I know why good friend Captain Beefheart was named thusly)

I love what he was about.

But for the life of me, I can't bring myself to enjoy his music.

Frank was a musical genius. Yes, strange, but a genius nonetheless.

So what if his music isn't for you - enjoy lady googoo or be like the redneck dude and listen to skynard. Who f*cking cares! They're your ears.

As for me, Frank is my write-in candidate for president every four years...

Zappa's music was just weird. Like Weird Al Yankovic with guitar lessons. But then, Bob Dillon proved you don't have to have singing talent to succeed in the music business.

That's exactly how I feel about the Rolling Stones.

Noise, with no redeeming musical value.

Greetings,

Compare net worth.

Yours based on what you do, who you know, and therefore what you got.

Define "redeeming quality"

Then quantify title.

Musical talent is subjective to the taste of the ear. It thinks, loves and attaches itself to those who follow its' rhythm.

Music to one is the horrid sound to another.

The talent you fail to see.....laughed all the way to the bank and therefore stands aloof of its' critique. Shall your thoughts diminish its' value? If not, beyond yourself, shall they have any affect?

Ahh the many successful people in life we tend to look down on.....from below them. Odd eh?

patton

mr. bungle

fantomas

all the patton projects

influenced by zappa

some noise is good others not so

but despite it all you have to admire

the dedication to the tempos and sudden starts and stops

it is complex even if it sucks

zorn comes to mind as well

Zappa, Dillon, Yankovic... All Jewish. No, you don't have to have talent, but being Jewish is a HUGE help if you want to succeed in the music business.

Agreed.. The Eagles on drugs = Greatest songs of all time both musically and lyrically...

The Eagles without drugs = "Hole in the World"
