RE: Ice Tea Recipe
I use about ten cups of water, 7 tea bags and 1/8 t. of baking soda. The baking soda cuts the bitterness.

Where are you ? You must live in an iron water area and the baking soda would make sense.

RE: Ice Tea Recipe
A bag of green tea, bag of peppermint tea, bag of cinnamon tea, ooh-long, whatever ya got, mix it up! It's why I'll buy just about any tea on clearance as long as it's organic and/or medicinal. I don't use sugar anymore, but Stevia. I could go really out there and juice some of the mint from the yard and add that. I've even added apple juice to remainder of tea - got my sugar rush after all. It's the new coca cola (now banned in my pantry).

RE: Ice Tea Recipe
Lifelong Southerner (NC and VA) but have always hated sweet tea.

I have looked into all kinds of gourmet teas in my life, but have gotten to the point where I just like to make a gallon of plain old unsweenened tea for the fridge. My favorite (or perhaps in this case favourite!) is Twinings Earl Grey, but I don't always want to spend that much. I like Lipton, but have recently discovered a reasonably priced brand I like, Red Rose, and you get this cool ceramic figurine in the box! (Well, actually they're kinda lame, but still, free, and look ok on a table or bookcase, at least from a distance!)

I always use 12 bags per gallon, and just tap water, sometimes Brita filtered, but sometimes I don't mess with that. I like to steep for a long time. This gives you lots of tannins, and the tea will be a little bitter, but that's what I like, for the same reason that I like beers with a lot of hops, like IPAs.

RE: Ice Tea Recipe
There is a Korean restaurant that I go to frequently, they have a hot tea that is awesome (I think it has fresh ginger in it) but they won't give out the recipe.

I'm with you on that recipe. I mix my teas and use the stevia. Make it sun tea style. Add some fruit juice if I am In the mood, a little fresh lemon....yum.

RE: Ice Tea Recipe
I've never heard of adding ACV to tea, but I am going to try it out.

I usually add a pinch of baking soda to mine.

Luzianne tea is the best. 3 family sized bags per gallon.

I don't add sugar to mine, but my MIL loves sweet tea so I always make it for her.
