The "savages" also enjoyed killing other tribes so essentially they could have wiped each other out. Gangs are nothing new.

I've been watching old westerns lately and it's interesting how the portrayal of death was just as much part of life and quite matter-of-fact. Steal horses? Get hanged. Ger sick? Probably die. Wasn't a big deal, unlike today where prisons are big business just like big pharma is. So, with infant mortality rates, sickness, accidents and hangings, this kept the population under control.

Humans do terrible things. Always been true. But I would rather go back to a time of simplicity and honor rather than complacency and fear.

Native north americans had it relatively good but just a short distance away in central america they cut down forests to create an empire, had slaves, and made a general mess like the europeans.

The point is if the euros hadn't f*cked it up someone else would have. Nothing good lasts forever.

You do know that Mexicans are a mix of indigenous tribes, and the conquering Spaniards and Portuguese, don't you? The last two are European and without the mix there would be no Mexicans.
