Another incident in a long trend of what can only be called police brutality. A diabetic Texas teenager was tasered twice by an officer after going into insulin shock and crashing his car. The reason for the tasering was that he was unable to obey the officer’s orders.

Stories like this seem to have become the norm with incidents of over-use of force being reported and constantly caught on camera. This as more and more departments are shamed by evidence and conviction, in some cases, of pedophilia, drug-dealing or even cannibalism as in a recent case.

The question being, what is happening with the policy makers and power structure that allows for this kind of trend to occur? For example: the Secret Service agent, Hector Cuellar, who was charged with sexual assault of a minor. If he is found guilty then one has to wonder how someone with that psychology is recruited to a high-up security agency and climbs the ranks enough to be assigned to the Vice President’s residence.

Not all law enforcement professionals are corrupt, most are decent people, but how did an element of thuggish criminality find its way into our institution of ‘serve and protect’. Combined with the emerging fact that many people in these positions don’t understand basic medical emergencies and we have situations that have proved deadly for too many over the months and years. Citizens with and without medical conditions dying in police custody or during police detainment.

There has been a rumor that some departments have a max I.Q. policy where candidates would not be

Truthfully I would sue the department for whatever I could get out of them. Then with my new found wealth I would offer them a way out. I will give all the money back if you drug test for every illegal substance there is. Including all forms of steroids. I would then make them institute a policy of no caffeinated beverages. EVER.

Anybody caught with illegal substances will be fired. Anybody caught with steroids will be fired. Anybody caught with caffeine in their bodies will be fired. The drug tests will be done at a facility of my choosing. These will be bi-weekly drug tests for every officer.

Either that or I keep the money

I did . the person tasered failed to respond to the officer's verbal commands. So what was the cop supposed to do ? Stand there and risk being shot ?

taser death weapon in a situation where the cop does not feel
that he/she is physically threatened?

If so, that is a terribe policy and should be changed ASAP.

This happens because people are stupid and scared. Cops, too. If people are stupid and brainwashed, for the most part, and yet we still need people to fill all of these damn jobs, then there are bound to be stupid people working as cops, doctors, lawyers, politicians, etc. Jobs that normally would have been reserved for some very intelligent or caring people are now being filled with monkeys. If there's one good thing about this story its that this overzealous copper didn't use his gun.

Yes, it is within policy to taser someone who is not following officer commands -- for all the cop knew this kid could have been reaching for a gun under his seat.

Cops want to go home to their families at the end of their shifts, and we all should want that for them too.
