Well it's always amazing to me that the loudmouth atheists seem to find Christ the absolutely most offensive person ever. This despite the fact that you have a major religion, islam, that teaches the atheist should be killed, and various weird cults that believe the aliens are out to get you or that you should worship a sinful self aggrandizing cult leader.

Yet somehow the one man who taught us to love our neighbor, love our enemies and to care for the downtrodden, this man is the real threat to their existence. I have no choice but to conclude that Christ is very real indeed, since he elicits such a strong response in those who claim to not believe in him.

That response must have a supernatural source, (from the dark side). There is no other explanation. If I did preach Santa Claus instead, the vitriol would vanish I assure you.

I can't honestly say that I have ever met anyone who finds the character or teachings of Jesus in the NT offensive. But I find you very offensive, massively ignorant, and just plain repugnant. Your thinking, your words, your shallow, judgmental, infantile mental processes are repulsive. So see, it's not Jesus the Christ that is offensive, it's creeps like you and the others you quoted in agreement. You are offensive.

As for preaching Santa as the savior: The doctrine that some invisible being is going to take you to paradise after you die, for no other reason than you claiming to believe in him and worship him remains ridiculous regardless of what name is filled in.

Yeah the way is narrow. Not everyone can handle that. It makes people angry because the way is narrow and they are not on it. I'd be pissed too!

Sure there is, you just haven't got past the indoctrination yet!!

what? to have to bash someone because they believe different than you do? seems so.... for some folks.

you seem a bit ... fixated.

So long as the front page is filled with preaching, this thread will be bumped.

Could you define preaching, not a dictionary reference but what you think crosses the line?

I'll answer. lol...

Using Bible verses in every single post is a pretty good indicator. Telling a non-believer they are going to hell or they are heathen scum indicates as such, also.

Can you give some recent links for examples of members doing this?

Please, let's see some evidence here. Because from my own surveys of threads, it's the unbelievers who are insulting and otherwise offensive, calling believers "religitards" and "Godtards", etc. And if such people feel judged by what they read in scriptures, it's not the person who quoted the scripture, or even the scripture that judges them. It's their own hearts, their own consciences that do so. The scriptures weren't given to condemn, but to save (John 3:17).

I am not religious but why this animosity towards Christians? It is not the defining thing in our modern time that is making a better world impossible.

You could better keep focus on the banks, especially Goldman Sachs and Morgan. They truly try to have people sell their souls for short term gain. And they are the biggest obstacle to world stability.

Because Goldman Sachs doesn't derail every conversation with banker propaganda?

Lmao

Classic, preaching on a thread about eliminating the preaching.

Public service announcement:

How is it ever possible to have an honest exchange of ideas or debate with anyone without the possibility of both parties being capable and willing of admitting when they may be mistaken?

Rarely and I mean it's EXTREMELY rare when any religious convert is willing to honestly and publicly consider that their belief system and the source of that belief system may be in error. And that goes for any belief anyone wishes to openly discuss.

Any honest discussion should begin with the publicly announced caveat that their position at least has the possibility of being in error.

Without that, all religious threads are bait threads and should be handled accordingly.

That's like asking a person who is not color blind, to say that the grass isn't green and the sky isn't blue. Or that the moon is the sun and vice versa. Not going to happen.
Let everyone have their opinions... you have yours.

If society fell apart, we - the people would build a new one. Most people are good at their core, and when we see things that are wrong we work to fix them together. Make friends with your neighbors, get involved with your community - because we will rebuild our lives, our communities, from horrible circumstances we always will.

If you had a brother who lived in NYC and you live in LA, would you let people who'd never met your brother convince you he didn't exist and forbid you from talking as though he did, just because they'd never met him?

Neither will we stop talking about the Brother we know exists.
