Did you know this was in the bible? If not then are you shocked? If you did know it was there then is Christianity really about a healthy loving relationship or is it a case of the Stockholm syndrome?

wow, all of that is out of context. the top verse is from the new testament after the arrival of Jesus and his message of love and peace.

and the bottom verses were from the old testament when the children of Abraham were coming out of the desert to a land that God wanted them to settle in, God did not want the children of Israel to learn the culture of the people in the area, He wanted them wiped out before they could destroy the way of life that God wanted Israel to practice.

some of those people were wicked and were offering their children to molech, having orgies and practicing evil occult and dangerous practices.

well if you want to nit pick about what you think God should or should not do that is up to you, I have a feeling this will not go well for you though.

open your heart to God and he will let you see his loving nature. anything he does is for the good of mankind in the long run.

we cannot say what God should do, his intelligence is infinite compared to ours. just saying.....

To all the above quotes that seem contradictory, those are only relevant when addressing fundamentalists. More protestants today understand the science of exegesis and use it to determine the meaning and context of provided scripture. They understand that God's Word speaks in metaphors, prophecy, symbolism, and poetry. They arrive at a greater meaning and understanding of God's Word than just empty quote-mining to prove some invalid argument.

Furthermore, to the poster who said that God commands us to make no graven image nor worship it and that he doesn't worship Jesus because He doesn't want to make God mad, I have this to say: when God came to Abraham as a man, He was still God Almighty ruler of Heaven and Earth and, yet, He was a man walking, talking, and eating at Abraham's tent. He did the same thing as Jesus Christ. Read Isaiah 9:6-7 and Micah 5:2

So when the Bible says to hamstring their horses or kill the children, it's metaphor but when it says there were only 2 people who started the entire race of people on this planet and that bushes can talk, it's fact? Also, if God is all knowing and wanted man to worship Jesus, why did he send Jesus down late in the game and to only a really small portion of the world? You think he would have sent the guy down right from the start and made an announcement to the whole planet at once. Another question, if you were one of Adam and Eve's sons, did you have to sleep with your mom or sister to have more kids? Yuck.
