im partial to deism as well. the older i get the more absurd i find all abrahamic religions and "holy" texts. god is life, god is nature, god doesnt write books.

I can respect Deism as a sane starting place but it is not an end. In fact, I think the entire movement was in reaction to the absurdity of nonsense promulgated by the church. Rational people couldn't stomach the ridiculousness but didn't want to abandon God completely.

I think this is a SANE reaction!!!

But the church does NOT represent the Bible or God!!!! You CAN reject that nonsense without rejecting the truth of the Bible.

The HUGE shortcoming of Deism is that it only includes the human perspective.

What about God?

If you believe He exists in some capacity, wouldn't you be curious about what it is that He wants/needs/expects?

He is like an absentee landlord. Might be a good idea to figure out what His expectations are---so you don't get evicted on His return.

I may not know what God's will for me is, but I sure as hell know
what God's will for me isn't! The great thing about Deism is
that my Deism doesn't have to be like any other Deists beliefs. I
have my own personal and very dynamic relationship with God. It's
what works for me.
