A strange object flying close to the sun looks unnervingly like a huge, metallic 'mothership' familiar from Hollywood blockbusters.

The picture was released by Nasa's sun-watching Solar and Heliospheric Observatory, known as SOHO - and has become an immediate cult hit on the internet.

Whatever it is, it may not be close to the sun but closer to the camera, hence its size may much smaller than your eye wants to first perceive.

I've seen a few things on SOHO over the years that make me Scratchinghead

My favorite is the white donut shaped object that pops in once in a while. It looks very much like a similar objects recorded outside manned orbiting craft.

Of all these supposed 'UFO's' that get published, this one seems at least remotely plausible.

It's obviously not just a pixelation error, or a dust mote out of focus, or any of the 1001 other nonsense things that the woo-woo's hype up beyond all reason all the time.

This looks like it COULD be something... maybe.

But whatever it is, it's not right out next to the sun as suggested, that would make it tens of millions of miles across. It's obviously much closer to the camera which no doubt accounts for the lack of detail and slightly out of focus detail.

Most probably, it is some other piece of space junk, but who knows?

I do in fact believe in UFO's, the logic behind them is just too great for it to be a complete figment of the imagination, but I am the FIRST guy to proclaim that 99.99% of all the crap purported to be a UFO is just toal obvious crap.

And at a minimum, at least this is not OBVIOUS crap... That's all.
