banana Social Justice - let's hear it! (a music thread)
In the development of the idea of this protest song thread, several topic ideas were considered:

1. Songs for the working people
2. Songs for the opressed masses
3. Songs about revolution
4. Songs about peace
5. Songs about war
6. Songs about the poor
7. Songs about rebels

... you get the drift.

But all of those were too pointed and political.

So I decided on "Songs About Social Justice In all its Forms". Songs about individuals overcoming unfairness and opression. Songs about speaking truth to power. Let this be a music thread about respect for all humans as products of the selfsame universe, and about acknowledging that all have the right to live true and full lives free from oppression, exploitation and other people's violence and fraud.

(I'm going to start out nice and innocuous and generically pro-human)

Pretenders - Back on the Chain Gang

The powers that be(TPTB)
That force us to live like we do
Bring me to my knees
When I see what they've done to you
But I'll die as I stand here today
Knowing that deep in my heart
They'll fall to ruin one day

His message was soo powerful that a selected one was let out to silence John through a means of relaying to the masses that they can not continue the cycle, scare tactics Mafia logistics.
