Lets talk about Tennessee
so i'm interested in moving to tennessee and spending money at the ecovillage training center there at the farm...
currently in central illinois living rurally...
concerned about the TSA highway roadblock check points and what else they might have goin on in the state that would infringe on my regular life...

who's got the scoop?

RE: Lets talk about Tennessee
I was outside working yesterday and I saw a police officer back into a little hiding spot next to my house. My neighbor came out and got in her car and drove by him, normally and at a slow rate of speed. Not 200' away from her house she was pulled over for no reason that I can discern. Made me paranoid knowing that I might have to drive past him.

Well toss a handful of roofing nails in those hiding spots and they won't hide there anymore.

Both of our Senators voted for the NDAA, you have the TSA ranging up and down our highways at will, their talking about TSA check points at sporting events similar to airport screenings.

Then there's the religious fundies that trample everything that might be considered 'satanic' while allowing pastors to molest children and the gov to abuse it's citizens.

I'm thinking that finding a banana dictatorship on a small island somewhere in the Pacific or off South America might be the safer route to go right now.

And yes I'm in TN. Not far out of good ole Music City itself. Close enough to Nashvegas to visit but not close enough to have to deal with the crime.

RE: Lets talk about Tennessee
That is mostly for big rigs and at bus stations. Other agencies sometimes to random stops for cash at common drug routes. Those are also usually trucks. The TSA only comes around for a few days every once in a while. If you do get stopped and you are carrying a lot of cash they will take it and call it suspected drug money. They are not interested in finding the drugs as they want the $$$$. A utility van ,truck with enclosed bed or a utility van might get you noticed. The drug runners have wised up to them by now and probably take back roads so those stops could happen just about anywhere.

I live in TN. I traverse the state monthly. Every other month, I drive from Memphis to Chattanooga. To be honest, I have NEVER seen a TSA checkpoint.
I have lived here for 30 years and I have to say, the cops in TN are pretty chill.

RE: Lets talk about Tennessee
Another place they stop people-NOT the TSA but local LE is any where near known drug vendors. They will stop everyone going through the neighborhood from time to time, insisting they had a light out or did not stop at the light, etc, etc. They will keep you there questioning you until you agree to let the search your car. This will probably never affect you,but try to stay away from run down looking areas.

Chattanooga.

All the rich peoples house boats in Chattanooga were just destroyed at 'Island Cove Marina' (I knew it as Loret). I can't imagine what the toll to insurance is going to be from that. Quite a few peeps lived on houseboats permanently. We're talking lots of boats.
