This is the problem we can't get near it to fix anything. Robots sadly are very limited and too crude for the delicate work.

Send in an Alien then..they are always up there knocking about with the Sun so it only makes sense that they like the radiation and can get in there with a spanner and a hammer.

failing that we can just send in Americans seeing as their DNA is so hard that the only downside is they turn into a sulky dark hearted messed up Superheros with annoying special needs powers.

Japan is in a world of hurt right now, one big shitstorm waiting to go off. They've found dangerously contaminated slurry at many different water treatment and sewage plants, so they burnt it at all the incinerator plants, which released it into the atmosphere to fall all over Japan! (And parts of the USA). So now they're told to store the ash as it may be used for gardening??? Wtf are these people on?

Also, they've just found that the faults beneath the Tsuruga nuclear power plant in Tsuruga, Fukui Prefecture, may be active–potentially putting the plant in violation of the government’s criterion that prohibits building nuclear reactors above active faults. Experts have also voiced doubts about interlocking active faults beneath Monju, a fast breeder reactor of the Japan Atomic Energy Agency in Tsuruga; Hokkaido Electric Power Co.’s Tomari nuclear power plant; Tokyo Electric Power Co.’s Kashiwazaki-Kariwa nuclear power plant in Niigata Prefecture; and Chugoku Electric Power Co.’s Shimane nuclear power plant in Matsue.
