UNIT 2- The best unit condition wise will kill a human in ten minutes and even a robot wouldn't last long. f*ck knows what the other units are like
This is the problem we can't get near it to fix anything. Robots sadly are very limited and too crude for the delicate work.

Got to 5 minutes. Can't listen to all of it since its 2 am here and I gotta work.

Gunderson is a great source, one of the first to warn of the dangers, warn of the radionuclides spreading, propose that the reactors melted down, warn that the contamination would spread into the ocean without containment, and so much more that all came to be proven true over the weeks and months after this catastrophe.

Nice post Eldritch, I salute you with all five fingers.chuckle

and stars.

Bottom line. There is no Tech that can approach these reactors, so there is little that can be done. We need to invent something that can approach and manipulate the mess,or we wait 300 years.

Quote:There are nearly 450 nuclear reactors in the world, with hundreds more either under construction or in the planning stages. There are 104 of these reactors in the USA and 195 in Europe. Imagine what havoc it would wreak on our civilization and the planet’s ecosystems if we were to suddenly witness not just one or two nuclear melt-downs but 400 or more! How likely is it that our world might experience an event that could ultimately cause hundreds of reactors to fail and melt down at approximately the same time? I venture to say that, unless we take significant protective measures, this apocalyptic scenario is not only possible but probable.

Politicians and bankers make good radiation shielding.
The research is new and still experimental but I willing to risk them after all they have always been willing to risk us.

You know with things the way they are a few people might say it is time to settle up some scores.

Hmm GE sells nuclear reactors designed for Submarines originally and it all goes wrong one day. There are so many people you could potentially blame it is hard to decide.

Might have to be a blind hat round.

It sucks down here in NZ as well.
We declared ourselves a nuclear free zone after the French bombed the Rainbow Warrior the only act of terrorism to ever happen on NZ shores.
The US was a bit put out when we wouldn't let them bring their nuclear vessels here since then.

Lots of reactors in the US near earthquake fault lines. I'm sure they will be fine with their energy policies.

I'm listening to it now... Good post, Op.

Those power plant employees who went in right after the false flag or tsunami wave/earthquake bullshit to help secure the facility and reactors as best they could, increasing their cancer risk rates exponentially, are truly heroic in my book.

These pools are all over the place as well, as the Power companys don't want to spend the 100,Million to process and store the spent fuel in air cooled caskets.

Arnie Gundersen -

http://atomicinsights.com/2011/02/arnie-...usted.html

Gundersen is a man who uses a pair of 39-year-old university degrees to claim the title of “nuclear engineer” so that he can get paid $300 per hour to seek to destroy valuable assets like Vermont Yankee. That plant produces about 4.8 billion kilowatt-hours of emission free electricity every year. Gundersen’s claim to expertise includes a number of questionable statements about the real world experience he gained after earning those entry level tickets. Gundersen has a legitimate claim to have earned a pair of respectable degrees, but the claim that he developed and maintained any reliable knowledge about topics like plant maintenance, operations, radiation health effects, and economics should be viewed with a bit more skepticism.

That's not true.

Build a building around it(from prefab concrete parts), install a heavy duty crane inside,

flood it with coolent and inert gas, and lift the shit out.

We could have started fre-fabbing all of this hardware, and sent it over on a barge by now.

It took them four years to lift the rods out of three mile island.

They did it quietly behind our backs. That was late 1970's. We have better shit now.
(not much better, because better isn't allowed chuckle , but we still have a few people who know how to build things)

This is a leadership problem, not a technological one.
