go•lem -- n. In Jewish folklore, an artificially created human supernaturally endowed with life.

Earthen tools are the staple of humankind’s extension of itself- the collection, manipulation, and exploration of its environment beyond the confines of weak, limited flesh. What started out as clay pots and stone axes has blossomed into the steel wings of airliners and the microscopic silicon strands of the computer processor.

In folklore, the golem was a tool created from clay and words of power by a master Kabbalist. Hebrew words were inscribed on its forehead during a stringent ritual, usually invoking the name of God or His attributes, such as “God is Truth.” Its inception and function was usually limited- it was a tool for bearing loads, as a sacrifice, or as a powerful defender. But humans are fallible, and our intentions impure. Creation of the creature through our words and intent was invariably the cause of our inevitable lack of control over it. The golem would become more powerful than intended, destructive, and violent.

In reality, modern man has created such creatures. Born of legalese and baptized in the sweat of labor, they roam the earth performing the tasks and bidding of their masters. You’ve seen their sigils, you know their names. Their footprints clutter our homes, their excrement pollutes our water.

The modern golem, the Corporation as human animation, was invocated in 1886.

Essentially, corporations, which before that time were required in most states to serve the common good and possessed limited lifespans and rights, were transformed into beings that held the rights of actual humans, were immortal, and could wield tremendous power.

Corporate persons, or golems, have since utilized rights granted to humans for their own gain and motives, usually in the name of profit and shareholder value. They use the First Amendment to justify their right to lie or deceive in advertising. They use it to pump millions of dollars into our political system. They invoke Fourth Amendment protections against search and seizure of assets thwarting government oversight and auditing. The Fourteenth Amendment ensures they are not discriminated against in law and is used when a community does not wish their presence- even when brought to a general vote. The sum gain is a twisted political system which serves the rights and common good of large golems, depressed cheap-labor communities, and environmental decay. Essentially, it is the collapse of the ‘town commons’ and democracy itself.

The easy answer is to remove the words of power from their foreheads and de-animate them. Removing corporate personhood would limit their power and give it back to the living beings for which they were originally intended. The corporation, like the clay bowl or stone ax, is a useful tool. At this country’s inception corporations were chartered to, above all, serve the public good. They were legal constructs with limited lifespans used as the tools of business and commerce. If the tool was used for destructive purposes, its charter was revoked - the tool essentially broken. Our founders believed this necessary to the survival of justice and a democratic system of governance.

Corporations are people, but people with perpetual life and limited financial liability for their actions. These attributes permit them to accumulate piles of money larger than any individual could ever earn. This power is needed to engage in the commercial activity for which corporations were created — building huge factories, railroads, bridges and entire villages of office buildings.

Not content with money, power and eternal life, the corporations now sought to acquire the facility of speech. They cannot, of course, speak by themselves, but by using money to hire people as their agents to speak and write for them and in their name. Qui facit per alium facit per se. And in due course the Supreme Court let it be so.

With money, power, eternal life, and speech, it might be pardoned the corporations that they began to think of themselves as just like real people, only better. And if ordinary mortals can vote, why not their betters? A stumbling block was that the election laws all restrict the vote to actual human beings. The corporations might have argued that these ancient laws were just as quaint as the Geneva Convention. But they took a different route. After all, if you have the right to vote, you can only exercise it once each election, in the municipality where you reside. But corporations reside everywhere. Surely they needed something more appropriate.

And so it came to pass that they hit upon the idea of using money to flood the public forum with speech, enough to line the campaign chests of Senators and put their message on every television set in the land. And that is where we find the Citizens United case. Although it is only supposed to decide the narrow legal question before it, the Court majority was so anxious to decide the constitutional issue that it ignored the positions actually argued by the parties and held that corporations have the unlimited right to spend money in election campaigns, regardless of whether the corporation’s business was affected by the election, and regardless of whether it even does business in the state where the election is being held.

It will be observed that this right is equivalent to the power to accumulate unlimited amounts of money over an unlimited period of time and spend it in unlimited amounts to affect an election. That right is greater than the right of the candidates themselves to raise and spend money in federal elections. And in all this din, the speech of the individual is not even loud enough to be heard.

Now the golem has immortality, speech and an amplifier, too. It appears to lack nothing besides worshipers, and with the advent of corporate evangelists that can’t be far behind. Where can this end but in a world where we must bow down to our new masters?

You're talking about 1 Corinthians? All throughout the Bible we see in prophecy that God views 'collectives' as singular entities. It was actually Paul who used the 'incorporeal body' as a metaphor for the 'body of christ' (not Jesus himself). Why would it not be absolutely perfect for 'antichrist' and 'false prophet' to erect the 'image of the beast' by perverting scripture?

'antichrist' only used 1 Corinthians in order to get the foolish Christians to support the erection of the blasphemous image...

educate me. I'm quite familiar with the teachings of Jesus as well as the Occult. I have not seen the correlation.

Jesus does indeed validify some occult ideologies in his parables but I see nowhere where he encourages sorcery or the like... Being a Jewish Rabbi, he would have known what a golem was...

The Golem and it's creation, existence, and effect on the world would have fallen into what he called the "Mystery of Lawlessness/Iniquity"...

They were most likely Chaldeans who had an affinity for the Hebrew Old Testament. The Bible doesn't say if they were sorcerers or diviners... Just Wise Men... It definitely does not say they were Christian (lol). The life of Christ could be said to be a "divine rite", everything he said was 'magical', but you did not see him using his 'magical prowess' to design economic laws or politics... Everything he said and did confronted the dark powers in high places.

I personally know a lot about Astrology, Astrolatry, Divination, Talismanic Magic, Ceremonial/Ritual Magic, Sorcery, Necromancy, Transmutation, Alchemy, etc... But you don't see me consulting the stars, creating golems, or anything of the like.

the hidden things of this world are not dangerous of themselves... they should be known! Christ made them known to the simple-people. It the people who use the hidden knowledge to enslave humanity to spiritual beings and archetypes... that's how it's always been.
