Whenever there is an Apple product that is given the access key to my home wifi, all the other devices are kicked off the access point and even while the Apple device is connected, it does not get internet. Oddly, even when the Apple device is switched off, no other device can maintain a connection to the access point. Have examined this through a PS3 and it will connect and gain an IP address only to lose connection to the access point immediately thereafter.

This first happened when someone was visiting who was an Apple user. They could not connect all weekend and I did a complete router reset and tried numerous other things to no avail. As soon as this person left the building, everything went back to normal.

I got a new job and they gave me an iPhone (grrr). Anywho, I have to use it because it is for work and I wasn't given a choice. Same issue at home, even when the device is switched off.

The only thing that seems to work is disabling the wifi within the phone.

Among other things, does this perhaps mean that, when an Apple device wifi is switched on, it remains on even when the phone is switched off?
- certainly looks that way to me.

Am going to have a crack at jailbreaking it and will post update.

On my Android device their is an option to automatically search for available wifi networks, maybe the iphone has something similar and its turned on?

ok not sure if this is related but since we installed lion on our macs the app store has simply attacked us.

the nutty apps on wife's Ipad appear on our iphones outta the blue....well not really but after a computer usb charge and sync! our iphones are 3g older and do not have large memories so this becomes a bother.

went back to snow leopard on all computers and problems went away.

I messed around with one of the HTC phones a bit when i was working at Wally World...that's the main reason i didn't get it

It had lot's of advantages over your phone. The biggest one was that you left it at home and while outside you could not be reached by work, parents, school or whatever you didn't feel like dealing with. You could throw it against the wall and you would dent the wall. The sound was always crystal clear. No radiation worries either.
