Malaysian press now also reporting that the 777-2 has landed in China

9:30am - (UNOFFICIAL) Flight MH370 has resurfaced and landed safely in Nanming, China. Early reports say that the aircraft had experienced a cockpit electronics malfunction.

As of this moment, the flight crew and all 239 passengers onboard are believed to be unharmed as some of the crew has already informed their families of their safety.

More updates to come.

Getting the info via PPRUNE and a.net, just recycled twitter reports but until someone 'official' confirms its just hearsay at the moment, although multiple reports saying the 777-2 was escorted into Nanning by Chinese fighters.

Question I have is IF they had complete electronics failure, how in the hell did the Chinese fighters know to come to their rescue? If there was time enough to contact Chinese flight control there would be time to send a tweet right? Something's fishy here.

Transponder goes down so control can't see the aircraft, however with RADAR capabilities these days able to seek out potential stealth aircraft with the return signature of a seagull, a 777 would be easy to spot.

Fly around until they get some attention, which they definitely would lol. What other option would they have really?

That would explain the time gap as well.

Jhikpghf My thought too! The Chinese fighter jets have radio and they would have radioed in the plane and flight number.

Nanming China is about 700 to 800 miles south of Bejing. It seems that as soon as the fighter jets knew enough to taxi it in, airline personel would be informed....

Yes, they would have been spotted quickly. Especially when their is a large airliner missing with 239 folks on board. Over 3 hours???

Yup the longer we go without a definitive confirmation the less likely this story is true.

Nan Ming has a huge airport and good communications so,soon we will know one way or the other.

Ridzuan Chan Abd Rzd Latest unofficial update. Landed in Nan Ming - cockpit electronics malfunction...yet to b confirmed.
11 · 8 minutes ago

Oh I so hope this is going to end up happily. A loss of the transponders in the aircraft would have made the flight "disappear" on ATC screens though it should be still visible on high altitude radar.

Exactly. The aircraft would have been easy to spot on ground based radar. which would then vector the fighters towards it.

The question is why did all the multiple backups for avionics and comms on a modern reliable aircraft like the B777-200 fail?

Oh I see. So as soon as they lose the signal, they send the word out for reinforcements. Thanks!
