*thinks of better ways to hide large amounts of $$ in home for short amount of time*

1. Wrap it in a towel and put in linen closet.

2. Put in a Cereal box.

3. Put in shoe box, slide under the bed.

4. Put in large ziplock bag and stash in toilet tank.

I keep all my money out of the bank and I usually try to buy stuff with good intrinsic value because I fear bank runs, inflation, Internet issues, and power issues. Here in San Diego last September the power in the whole city went out... no atms and no paying with plastic

more common than thought

as a small child my dad after coming home from the restaraunt/bar put almost 8k cash in the up light fixture...was going to deposit it the next day...mom turned on the light not realizing early that morning

dad took the ashes and corners of bills to the bank they reimbursed him

of course this was in the late 60's

before any of you shit heads say your father or mother was stupid

it wasn't dad got home late..just happened

the lesson is communicate to your sig other
Oh wow, glad he got the cash replaced. We all make mistakes, Hell I'm lucky if I make it home with it but I'll save that story for a different occasion chuckle

It seems as long as he has the extra crispy cash the government should be able to verify that it was or was not real money and offer to replace it. It was a stupid thing to do but I feel bad for the poor guy and his wife.
He tried at the bank and they told him no. Might have some luck w/ the treasury dept. but they say it's up to the bank to decide. He's probably f*cked.

Well, that's sort of telling.

I visited this thread mainly to see if anyone had come up with any jokes about "hot charred cash" or something, but it really isn't that funny, I guess.

Why is anyone blaming HER? He's the one that was assumptive and stupid. He should have told her about it right away, instead of trying to hide it from her.

Far back people could hid their gold and silver coins in some jars and hid them before the barbarians come. The people might not have survived but the money was safe for a thousands or moar years. Then it is found and given to the taxman. Maybe the barbarians should have been given it in the first place?
