The Civil War has been fought against / for slavery (the “traditional way of life”) AS WELL. But partly you’re right:

1) It was a clash of two elites with conflicting interests (as always): one exploiting slave labor another cheap free labor.
2) Racial discrimination didn’t even formally end till mid 60s, till suspension of the Jim Craw laws. Practically, it never will.

But belief that South fought for the "TRUE Constitution" is just as stupid as that North fought for the abolition of slavery ALONE.

I don't have much money in my pockets (I invested in market commodities), but do you really think that Freedom is about how much money you have in your pocket?

I met people freer than me (and apparently you) without any money "in their pockets" - and slaves with a lot of money.

The Original 13th Amendment
This Article of Amendment, ratified in 1819 and which just "disappeared" in 1876, added an enforceable strict penalty, i.e., inability to hold office and loss of citizenship, for violations of the already existing constitutional prohibition in Article 1, Section 9, Clause 8 on titles of nobility and other conflicts of citizenship interest, such as accepting emoluments of any kind for services or favors rendered or to be rendered, and is particularly applicable today in the 21st Century as government is increasingly FOR SALE to the highest bidder, as foreign and multinational corporations and individuals compete to line the pockets of politicians and political parties to accommodate and purchase protection or privilege, i.e. honors, for their special interests.
