Wouldnt this mean that the majority of seniors would be pot smokers since they have a less of a chance getting these sicknesses and diseases?
I got some news fer ya there, Sparky, the majority of seniors DO smoke pot, at least in my neck of the woods......Where'd'ya think we get it from?

I'm sure he's happier and thanks you for that
specially if 30+ years later your still calling him a pothead
yup...quite sure he was happy to be rid of you
Maybe you call it something else. I thought Cheech and Chong were funny but being married to someone who was stoned all the time wasn't that amusing.
I can see recreational use or for medical applications but when Colorado started allowing pharmacies it became a religion. It's quite possible marijuana is far safer than many legal pharmaceuticals or even OTC drugs but I grew up during the hippie drug culture and 30+ years later look around and see how that turned out.
My kids still attend NA, thankfully, but it would have been great if they could have avoided the mj and the tweakers all together. So, yeah, I don't have a high opinion of a drug culture that nearly took my oldest child's life and just thinking about it brings tears to my eyes. Maybe you haven't had a child OD on something passed around at school.
Actually, my comment was meant to be light hearted as Alzheimers is related to forgetfulness. You can accuse me of being insensitive to those who have Alzheimers but drugs have gotten out of control, legal or otherwise.
nope..
but had many friends die...
but not one from weed and lumping the 2 types of drugs together....well...
kinda ill informed...
and don't scream gateway drug...
my first drug was beer...
there is your gateway drug...but its legal...and kills how many a year...

Just try and get some of those old codgers with 80 years of negative propaganda against marijuana, hemp, and cannabis to even consider using it.

Not a problem for the 60-80 crowd though, not at all!

I think this is fitting here and heck, this may have been posted a long time ago, but I have never read a thread about this so here it is:
http://www.dailypaul.com/153097/us-gover...abis-cures
That link will take you to the patent office:
http://patft.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Parse...PN/6630507
Where you will find this:
On October 7, 2003 The United States Government as represented by the Department of Health and Human Services was granted a U.S. Patent (#6630507) on any and all uses and applications of: Cannabinoids as antioxidants and neuroprotectants.
---
So, our government (Or a branch of) owns the patent that says that cannabinoids are medically beneficial. Yet, they have it classified as a Schedule 1 drug that holds no medicinal benefits?
(Sounds like our government doesn't it? )

RE: Marijuana Compound Found Superior To Drugs For Alzheimer’s
I think there may be use for smoking, it certainly has a much more drastic effect than oral consumption. But it also might have a unique effect, beyond the potency you get, per amount used.
And you can get a desired effect from eating enough of it. It is the scarcety, caused by the illegality, that pushes everybody to smoke, the small amount they manage to procure.
But I think, that not eating it, is one of the main things that facilitates abuse. I dont think you can abuse it all that badly if you follow your appetite to carefully eating it only. You of course must have very clean stuff to eat it.
I think one of the main causes of abuse, is your inner self/body/whatever, wants to eat it. But you constrain yourself to smoking it, because you have a limited amount.
But you end up, sometimes smoking more and more and more to satify that need, that is probly just to eat it. Its all burning up in front of you, and you never get to ingest that stuff you need raw and unburned up.
Think of this. You often get 'the mad eats'. You may think this is just some aberated fun, or pitfall to avoid. But,, if you were in the wild and ran into a field od marijuana, smoked some, and got the 'mad eats'. You would then eat the plants before you. I think that is the purpose of mad eats. To get some of that stuff in your stomach, in the form you need it.
You never will get the same/as much of the mental effect from eating it. But you may get something you need mire.
If you compulsively smoke. Eating some may help.
And if you use it very sparingly, you dont need to smoke it for that mental effect. But there still may be use for very infrequent smoking
You shouldnt eat anything unless you know, its clean. None of umteen bad things that could be in there that burning takes care of some of them.
I dont buy it oe anything to remain, legal. So I 'inhale' a few times a year. And so if I found a roach, I would priobly smoke it rather than eat it. But back when, I learned about eating it. I think it helped me transitin from abuse to valuable infrequent use.

RE: Marijuana Compound Found Superior To Drugs For Alzheimer’s
Lots of wrong "facts" in this thread. Guess I will address a couple more.
1.Levi’s corporate history says that they got their fabric from the Amoskeag Manufacturing Company in Manchester, New Hampshire. Amoskeag was the biggest fabric manufacturer in the US for much of the 19th century. They used cotton and wool, but not hemp.
2. Hemp will *not* grow well or produce a good crop "in any old soil" any more than tomatoes or corn will. Total bullshit, that. Hemp is a very heavy feeder that requires enormous amounts of fertility to grow. The places it does well in the wild are mostly rich river bottom soils or drainage ditches that get fertilizer runoff from cultivated fields. What you will get if you plant it in poor soil is tiny little spindly plants, not a good hemp or pot crop.
Anyone who has ever grown cannabis has to know this, so why are they lying? Hemp will deplete the soil just as quickly or more so than any other demanding crop.
