Close to 1hr to go before first contact in the western states, lucky so and so's. After seeing totality in 2006 all I can say is don't be too put-off with wanting to capture it on video/pictures as practically everyone else will be doing the same thing. Savour the moment and remember our ancestors millennia ago also observed events like this, and it screwed with their heads chuckle

Trying to get it on the NHC vis satellite images too, might have to wait for the next update if anything shows. Given 12% of the sun was still visible it'll just appear as a grey-smurk being cast upon Earth than anything darker.

What about all of the kids on the west coast that will still be out playing and look at this eclipse maybe not even aware of what it is...

but yeah eclipse webcasts in the states are as above. I'm guessing with 18mins to go they'll start to be switched on as first contact with the Moon happens at 16 past the hour.

I made a little pinhole camera with a shoebox. Just a pin hole in one side pointed at the sun so the light shines thru to the other side. I'm going to go check it out now to see the eclipse.
