Michigan government unleashes armed raids on small pig farmers, forces farmer to shoo
http://www.naturalnews.com/035585_Michig...raids.html

Michigan Department of Natural Resources has, in total violation of the Fourth Amendment, conducted two armed raids on pig farmers in that state, one in Kalkaska County at Fife Lake and another in Cheboygan County. Staging raids involving six vehicles and ten armed men, DNA conducted unconstitutional, illegal and arguably criminal armed raids on these two farms with the intent of shooting all the farmers' pigs under a bizarre new "Invasive Species Order" (ISO) that has suddenly declared traditional livestock to be an invasive species.

If they are not government piggies, they are illegal.

Same as illegal crops if they aren't mosanto crops.

Oh what a joyous world we live in!

They are looking for the Siberian boar, not common pigs. If this boar gets out in the Michigan wild it will be impossible to irradicate. And it will destroy the forest for all the normal animals.

It seems to me that the "Invasive Species" are these rogue, ferrel Michigan DNS goons!

Not sure what kind of corruption is going up there, but I think somebody was bribed off. This can only help the large corporate pig farms while destroying the smaller operations.......this needs to be cracked wide open with an investigation before this situation gets out of hand.

Didn't there used to be wild boars in America?

How likely is it these animals are going to be allowed to escape from family farms?

Why is this species of boar viewed as so destructive? In what way is it?

"All the normal animals"?

That is absurd on the surface of it.

I guess the deep cover limited hangout shills are finally forced to blow their cover defending this crap.

How is this kind of boar so different from the species of wild boar native to North America?

Control of Siberian Wild Boars
Category: Saskatchewan Ministry of Agriculture
Year: 2009
Resolution Number: 14 - 09A
WHEREAS Siberian wild boars are multiplying at an alarming rate, not only within Moose Mountain Provincial Park, but throughout Saskatchewan; and

WHEREAS these animals are very destructive and disruptive animals, and are proving to be almost impossible to contain by the land owners and local hunters who are trying to eradicate them; and

WHEREAS the financial burden to the land owner whose property they are destroying, as well as those who are trying to eradicate them has become astronomical; and

WHEREAS jurisdictions around the world who have ignored these animals and allowed their numbers to grow, are now faced with a monstrous problem to deal with; and

WHEREAS a minimum of 67 rural municipalities in Saskatchewan have reported wild boar problems;

BE IT RESOLVED that SARM lobby the Provincial Government to declare a moratorium on the raising of Siberian wild boar in Saskatchewan and to increase efforts to eradicate those living in the wild.

I think it has to do with breading the pigs with wild pigs (they grow BIGGER!) I could be wrong but I think that is what is going on and why they had to shoot them.

From 2011:

Dear Spiro,
I always enjoy your food; special memory for the EVOO ice cream. I'm writing because I have a farmer friend in Northern Maine, by the name of Ivan Porter, who has the only herd in the US of true Siberian boar; which is very different from what we get as boar normally. I don't know if you'd be interested in his animals but I thought you might be. He's shipping a 1/2 down to me within the next few weeks; as far as Portland where he delivers to Fore Street and I can pick up. If you want to talk to Ivan, his number is 207.991.4611. I'm happy to drop off an animal if you want to get one. He can give you all the info but I know he has his USDA. If you want to call me my cell is 978.457.2873.
Cordially,
Jon Bove

Maybe someone should call Ivan and straighten all this friggin' nonsense out.

What the hell kind of pigs were these DNS jokers really looking for in Michigan?

True they are very aggresive….and not good for eating either!
How does boar meat differentiate from regular pork? A wild boar is nothing more than a pig gone feral.

There are quite a number of differnet animals that get lumped together under the name “wild boar.”

Some are feral domestic pigs. Some are actual European or Asian boar, which are quite different. And some are hybrids of the two.

I saw a nature show that tried to link wild American feral boars to Siberian boars. There was no conclusive evidence that they are closely related. The Siberian boar can weigh 750 lbs. They are monsters. Long coarse hair to survive the 5 ft. snows that occur there in the winter.. They are quite a prize for hunters.

They need to be going after the irresponsible "canned hunt" preserves, not responsible family farms.

This is just another assault on the family farm.

People have been releasing hybrid Siberian Boars into the wild for game, but these are family farms -- they are not doing that.

Exactly.
