Montreal teacher suspended for showing students Magnotta video

MONTREAL—A teacher has been suspended by a Montreal high school for showing students the infamous video that shows a killing allegedly committed by Luka Rocco Magnotta.

The teacher showed the Grade 10 students the grotesque scenes on June 4 and was immediately suspended that afternoon — with pay.

Staff at Cavelier-De LaSalle High School say they quickly informed students that a team of psychologists was available to deal with any problems students might have had as a result of seeing the video.

The teacher, described as being in his 20s, apparently apologized to the school by email and was scheduled to lay out his version of the facts before a labour-relations board Wednesday.

Montreal police said Wednesday that investigators were trying to determine if charges could be laid against the unidentified teacher.

Teachers can get away with damn near anything with pay, no doubt he will be reinstated as well. One around my neck of the woods broke the schools districts policy and was viewing porn in the school on school equipment. He was suspended without pay... after arbitration they were forced to reinstate him with 200k in back pay and benefits.

Maybe we should just de-sensitize children in the womb so they never have to worry about what being a child might have been like, why the f*ck not. Get 'em ready for what's coming up. Seems to be the norm these days.

When I was a kid I still remember the day I lost my mental virginity, when I was in fourth grade and my witch teacher explained to us the holocaust and various ghetto stories from Detroit. I never forgave that teacher for breaking my heart.

Lost a good part of my childhood by being made aware of certain atrocities that no children, especially in a free country, should ever have to know. Let them grow up enough to even begin to realize how dark it is. Maybe by then they can have enough balance of light to not destroy them out of the gate.

It didn't destroy me but I was never the same again, all from some teacher.

I have seen the one with three men and a hammer. It's rough for sure but my generation in tenth grade would have just looked at it, said damn, and no shrink needed.

Of course we were also smoking weed, drinking beer and going to midnight movies at that age in the 70's. We were a hell of a lot less innocent than kids are now and a lot more free.
