The moon mission was a huge propaganda tool for the US to claim technological superiority over other countries.

If the missions were faked, why didn't the Russian, who had the equipment to track and either confirm or debunk the moon mission, poke a massive hole in the US propaganda attempt? Especially since most of these missions happened during the peak of the cold war.
