Bach - Toccata and Fugue (electric guitar cover)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IE9SKFbtW5M

IntentionallyBlank did a thread on the classics about a year or so ago. I threw in some very talented musicians doing electric guitar covers of classic music greats.

It's amazing what some of these musicians do with an electric guitar and some classical music.

Yngwie Malmsteen - Toccata e Fuga

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D9OREXN9P...re=related

Yngwie is at the forefront of this but there are plenty of talented amateurs who have picked up on this as well.

Ah yes, there are guitarists and then there is Yngwie!!!

Thanks ARM. Great contribution. Which do you prefer? Your first or Yngwiew? No offence to amateurs, but I know what I prefer!!!

Thanks chance. It was really nice, but I was kinda thinking of going the other way. You know, classic to modern.

Still, here is another zeppellin cover

Yngwie is a guitar guru and an inspiration to anyone who picks strings of any sort IMO.

Omgsign

The amateurs can be incredible though. I've seen a few that really blew me away with their talent and skill.

Steve Vai - Paganini 5th Caprice

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Imv6aagHw...re=related

Thanks guest!

I loved Steve Vai's introduction to Zappa.

Steve: Hey Mr Zappa, I'm a really big fan of yours and I play guitar too. See, I've even written down the annotations to all your songs.

FZ: Let me have a look. Hey, that looks pretty cool

Steve: Gee, thanks Mr Z. Can I join your band?

FZ: Hell yeah!.

Steve: Cool.

FZ: I need someone who can annotate the music. You're hired.

Steve: Gee, thanks Mr Z. But I was hoping to play guitar.

FZ: Why would I need another guitarist when I can already play?

If you enjoy modern renditions of classical music you should check out "Children of Bodom" and "Dark Moor". Both are metal bands that have classical music as a primary source of influence.
