positive call out have always been allowed.

As to the question of if mods should or shouldnt post as themselves... I see plenty of folks who treat mods as a bit different and more who don't. It likely wouldn't matter if a mod had a posting sock or not. It would likely become obvious who owned that sock, so would contradict the reasoning behind forcing a mod to gain a new sock to either be a mod as or to post under. Mods can go anon or post logged out like a guest, so, it really doesn't make a hella lot of difference in the long run how one posts. Makes more difference that one contributes.
