wall Municipal Composting programs?
Most cities have recycling, but why not composting? I see people throwing food into the garbage, but i wonder why the city or town cant collect it and throw it into the woods or something to rot.

I thought about starting my own composting system and going around and collecting, but i didn't think anybody would care enough to put it out to get collected.

They started forcing people to compost in Portland. They now only pick garbage every two weeks. I was totally against it, but it hasn't been a big deal.

Here you put the brush by the side of the road. They come once a week same as garbage service. Nobody is forced to do it though. We also have a city recycling center for glass, plastics, cardboard and such if you are so inclined to go drop it off. Hazerdous waste once a year..

Most dumps in florida already are.

they pile all the trash in big hills cover them in dirt and tap them for methane.

and

Compost piles are a separate venture that they also utilize.

Already done.

They do so in my community. They have huge rows of composting greenwaste at the facility. I had them deliver 15 yards once. Good stuff.

I compost my own stuff, now. I produce probably that 15 yards annually myself. I just have a lot more difficult time getting it cook down properly. I'd need a tractor bucket to turn it and do it right.

Who needs a tractor? And pretty much any land can be used for growing food and market crops, raising animals, etc.

Just have to be creative enough to see how. Search term: "permaculture"

The city where I live (Burnaby, BC) composts all food waste, you put them in the yard waste bins for grass clippings, etc, along with pizza boxes or any paper container that's had food in it. All gets composted and then you can pick up big bags of the stuff for free in the spring. It's great. We now just have one small bag literally every week. Once they started taking meat bones too, it's even better. We have a yard with a good compost pile and most of our kitchen scraps go there, coffee grounds, etc. But it's nice that meat bones are collected now too. And the pay-off is free compost (though we have our own anyway). In the two years since the system was implemented, it's cut what goes to landfill by 70%!!!!!
