Shep Smith, Judge Napolitano Go Off On Feds For ‘Trampling Our Liberty’ With NATO Summit Arrests

Napolitano said that those implicated in violence that were arrested by the FBI but are being prosecuted by the state probably do not have charges assigned to them that will be made stick in a court.

“The Chicago folks want to make an example out of these kids to deter other people from expressing their political opinions in the streets,” said Napolitano.

“You’ve got to be kidding me,” said Smith.

Napolitano went on to savage the Chicago police and the FBI for what he characterized as an attempt to silence political dissent.

“How do we have stories like this two or three times a week and no one in the nation seems to care,” exclaimed Smith.

“Because the American public has been deluded into thinking that when the government finds a dope and persuades the dope to say bad things and think he’s gonna collect—assembling a bomb and then he eventually pleads guilty that somehow we are kept safe by that happening,” said Napolitano.

“That’s a load of it,” said Smith. “Somehow we are made to feel like maybe they are doing something for us when what they’re really doing is trampling on our liberty.”

“Correct,” Napolitano agreed. “They’re picking the weakest among us and talking them into thinking they’re breaking the law.” Napolitano went on to say that entrapment is one thing, but this case is “far worse” because the federal government declined to prosecute indicating to Napolitano that there is “no case.”

These guys are protesters who came for the mayday protest, and stayed in a house which was being rented by a couple solely for the purpose of housing protester. A man and a woman who are local residents in Chicago. Any of the so called evidence taken from this property probably belonged to the owners of this property. Or it could have belonged to the other 12-20 people staying at the house.

Now again, cite your source, that these three men have/had been planning this for months, have known each other for some time up until this point, and have up until this point been making plans to carry out this attack which by the way, is a being fed to us a terrorist attack on our POTUS. I have never been a supporter of the Occupy movement from the get go... I did my research and am well aware who funded and started the movement and the motivation for doing so... The proof of their efforts is in the pudding... Three men formerly associated with Occupy Fort Lauderdale were charged today in Chicago with 11 counts, including conspiracy to commit terrorism, possession of explosives, and attempted arson. Each is being held on a $1.5 million bond awaiting trial, possibly as early as this month.

Brian Church and Brent Betterly are from Fort Lauderdale and Oakland Park, while Jared Chase is from New Hampshire. They're accused of making Molotov cocktails to be used during the May NATO convention in Chicago. All three are in their early 20s, and their friends and attorneys say they are peaceful activists who were set up by federal informants. Friends say the four "Molotov cocktails" seized by the feds was actually beer-brewing equipment.

In an MSNBC piece by former New Times writer Thomas Francis, people who knew the trio in Fort Lauderdale expressed disbelief that the young men would have been involved in any kind of "terrorist" plot.

But the arrests apparently didn't quench the thirst of the feds for actionable intelligence: Shortly after Francis' piece was published, some of the people interviewed were allegedly tracked and questioned by law enforcement.

Prosecutors revealed that they have an audio recording, allegedly of the defendants talking about a bomb plot. Federal and local agencies spent a fortune on security patrols and intelligence at the NATO summit, although protests were largely peaceful.
