My Skimmer Has an Occupant!
I'll admit this is probably the second wierdest thread title I've used, but it's true. I even videoed it this morning for you!

So here's how it began last night; a big storm came through Virginia...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PeIHNJ55Ob0

And this morning the pool was trashed and my neighbor had trees down in his yard.

As I went to empty the skimmer, I found this little fella in it...

Slippery 'lil devil!! chuckle

In the end each other is all we have.

Awesome!

From what I am reading, that was a pretty serious storm last night, millions without power.

From what I am reading, that was a pretty serious storm last night, millions without power.

We have / had over 150,000 Dominion Power customers without power in Richmond alone from the storm.

My neighbor behind me has no power, he is in my drive with his pickup truck and coolers and trash cans to borrow about 150 gallons of water.

We are fortunate, the bottled water comapny here in Richmond takes their water from underground in the woods near me--I am in the same aquifer so basically the pool has the same as the bottled water in it! chuckle

We have taken over 155,000 gallons of water from my well in about ten days when filling my and my neighbor's pools two summers ago.

In the end each other is all we have.

Wow! Cute.
You didn't cover your pool before the storm?!
I can't believe the debris! Wow!
You're lucky you don't have a jellyfish in there...

Apparently they live in a network of underground tunnels beneath my yard doomed

A friend has a bucket and shovel in the back of his car and says if he's ever nearby after a rain he's gonna dig up dinner! chuckle

Thank you! Heartflowers

I essentially live in a swamp so pools here at my end of the county while having fibreglass sides, have bare rock or rock dust bottoms with a sand overlay and a vinyl liner over it.

When I bought the house the pool had over 30,000 gallons of water on the wrong side of the liner and the previous owner had used some type of trash pump and unwittingly sucked the sand underlay out from beneath the liner.

He finally jumped in and showed them who's boss!

So without the smooth sand beneath it, as the ground water level goes up and down the liner wrinkles slightly from moving.

I've straightened it out twice--its a hassle to do as the pool must be drained completely, which means the ground water level must be below 12 feet or water will fill in beneah the liner, the the fall rains invariably screw it up. Eventually we are having the pool completely overhauled but that's a few years away so we're dealing with the wrinkles. Heartflowers

Oh, normally they aren't so noticeable, but they have caught quite a bit of dirt in them from the storm!

In the end each other is all we have.
