GOOD FOR YOU !

and if thats what you want to continue to use, thats your business..

I got a $950 bicycle, that will do the same for 7 cents a trip.

and if gasoline goes to $8 a gallon...my cost may skyrocket to 10 cents a trip.

chuckle

May I make a suggestion to the OP. In a SHTF scenario, the grid may go down or weaken. Solar panels are very limiting so buying some cordless drills and putting them on a stationary bike would be able to charge the battery quickly - 6volts? amps? Cordless drills are cheap electric generators is done right. Also, where did you buy the airless tires and how much did they cost? Smart move for some people.

Im doing a small part to reduce my dependancy on fossil fuels

All you are doing is transferring your emission footprint down the power line to the Power Station . Until you start using the Solar Panels , your utility company still has to burn coal to charge your bikes battery .

Um..well yeah....

so this begs the question..

is my 7 cents worth of electric usage more harmful to earth then a vehicle that uses $4 a gallon gas , has emissions, needs 4 rubber tires to be replaced on a regular basis , uses $3 a quart oil...do I need to go on ?

A solar panel would charge the battery with no problem. The battery is only 20 amps and even using 110 volt electric socket, it only uses 7 cents worth of electricity...

airless tires are online at

amerityre

they have a chart so you can make sure you buy the proper sized airless tire for your rim.

Some people have reported getting up to 6000 miles on these tires, before replacing them .

I bought them for the safety factor. When you are doing 35 mph on a bicycle and weigh 275 lbs, you dont want a f*cking blowout.

and to the posters who keep trying to make this some type of debate about how my electric bicycle isnt any better for the enviroment then using a car....that really wasnt the sole point of the thread. I dont give a rats ass if all of you drive a hummer that gets 7 mpg...thats your business.

I've gone without a car when I lived in the city. The questions on my mind weren't answered in this post. I found it was fine in good weather, but nearly impossible to commute in driving rainstorms. It's difficult to show up looking professional when you're on a bike in a blizzard, storm etc.

Grocery shopping is a chore on a bike.

What kind of light package did you get?
It's illegal to ride in the dark without one. If you live in the North, you'll need it in the winter.

Do you get hassled by cops for looking homeless?
In my community.....you're a suspect if you're walking or biking....even if it's a short walk from your home....profiling.

I relocated to a area where such laws are not a factor. I do have a LED light for the front...

no cops bothered me yet...

yes, you are correct...driving it in inclimate weather isnt ideal....thats where I use my car 20% of the time...

I refuse to be riding a bike on the same road as cars. I simply don't trust the drivers, especially distracted drivers.
