I've gone without a car when I lived in the city. The questions on my mind weren't answered in this post. I found it was fine in good weather, but nearly impossible to commute in driving rainstorms. It's difficult to show up looking professional when you're on a bike in a blizzard, storm etc.

Grocery shopping is a chore on a bike.

What kind of light package did you get?
It's illegal to ride in the dark without one. If you live in the North, you'll need it in the winter.

[b]Do you get hassled by cops for looking homeless?
In my community.....you're a suspect if you're walking or biking....even if it's a short walk from your home....profiling.

It helps to live in a bicycle friendly community where a large percentage of the people bike. I can't imagine living in a community where riding a bike or walking would target you as being a suspect. I live in a Gold Bicycle Friendly Community and the streets are full of bicyclists of all ages.

Unfortunately, the more popular e-bikes have become, the more city councils have been banning them from recreational trails/bike trails because of the speeds the e-bikes can achieve. I disagree with banning e-bikes from trails and it discourages those with certain disabilities/physical ailments and seniors from enjoying the trails (safely away from vehicles) on a bike that enables them get some exercise when they are able to pedal.

proper link for photos

http://texarkana.craigslist.org/bid/2968154255.html

i initally had the battery mounted neatly on the back, above the rear tire using a rear bike rack....

but i think it was a bit to much weight { battery weighs about 21 lbs} and was causing the rear tire to wear down faster the normal..

so i moved the battery up to the middle of the frame...and that helps with center of gravity issues.

look at the rear wheel...that blakc hub in the middle of the wheel..is the brushless motor...its built right into the wheel...no extar chains needed...its a direct drive system...

and no brushes to ever wear out.
