Thing is, I dont think it WILL be rain, cos its not supposed to be over 32F on monday... In the 20s at night.... So Im thinking freezing rain and lots of it. Snow at the least, but usually when its that much moisture and that temp range, its freezing rain which is pretty much the worst ya can get around here...

damn, i live in a crater too well i live on one of the surrounding mountains but everything we need is in the crater chuckle

I suspect those in NYC will be safe, high rises and all that. MTA and transportation may be down. Unless you are in very low lying area, might be best to go stay with friends or relatives.

Those in higher elevations may feel safe, but remember Irene and how hard it hit in the mountains all throughout the NE. Mountains and valleys~~~~~
Small streams and rivers get overloaded. The water runs down the mountains to somewhere. Roads and bridges may be washed out.

This will be a long extended storm that lasts for days. Stay home, and stay safe if you can. Heartflowers

well, i live on a mountain and below that is the highway, then on the other side of the highway is a 100 feet drop and a creek and town below that. town is probably screwed. on the other side of the town is another mountain though. i can hit the other mountain with a good sized rock or well, if i could throw pretty good. anyway i can see it just fine

Sounds like where I lived a couple years ago when we had all that big snow.... We where stuck on that mountain for two weeks.

Go to the store and be ready NOW bro..

You got wood\coal heat? Kerosene or propane even? Its gonna get cold up here in these hills... And they SAY snow, but Im still thinking at the very least a mix of snow\freezing rain, so count on the lights being out if yours are anything like ours here...

I just got back from a library store run before sandy passes us later this evening.
The talk here is worry for everyone north of us,and the mountains were mentioned because of the combo cold/warm front. Candle
