Water 5 - 6 ' deep
Could have been worse considering where we live
It's a mess but house is standing
Headed back to Covington.
Glad you and your husband are safe. Positive thoughts sent your way.

Good to hear from you, very glad you're okay!
Is it river or sea water where you are?
Sorry about the boxer-poor guy is probably scared.

BeingSouthern Wrote:Hi everyone.
Water seems to going down but not much
Neck deep in some area. Could be worse.
My husband is at the house
We bought a kayak in the city we had evacuated to
I dropped him and the kayak off on the interstate and he drug the kayak to our area and then paddled all the way back (paddled down about a 3 mile street not in the river). River runs along that street though.
I'm bringing him supplies now.
He's not leaving. Our dogs were with our neighbors. They did not evacuate but they are now leaving due to rough conditions and he is not leaving our dogs.
Our boxer will not get in the kayak. Won't go near it.
Elizabeth npmsy have heard about bottleneck on I-12 near bridge that goes over the river. Huge homes, one 3 story and the river is halfway up the home. Unbelievable sight.
Thanks all
I lucked out and found a hotel room in BR for tonight
Will try to check in when I get back
Have to hurry.
I hope everyone is out of harms way
Y'all take care.
So glad to hear from you dear.
Will you have the room for longer? If you need a place, Im about to go now, and see if the water is down enough to get to my place. And we have a huge Entergy Power station close by so they usually get our lights back on Quickly.
If you need a place to stay know you have a place. I dont have a fenced in area except the field and barn with the chickens and Bo the goat. But if the dogs are mild mannered and think they will not eat my chickens, they are also welcome. I have two pugs inside, but they are a bit protective of the house from other dogs.
You have my number if you need me.
Take care darlin'. Prayers with you all.

RE: NEW STORM FORMING / ISAAC UPDATES
Okay ...supplies have been dropped off and I'm back at hotel.
Elizabeth - you are too kind. Thank you so much for the offer. I am going to try and find a room closer to our home tomorrow night. The clerk at this hotel said that as the power is restored more and more people are checking out of hotels. May get lucky in the Covington area. Thank you again though.
Smilin - hi ya sweet pea. Thanks babe.
Tyche- it's river water but in the pics my husband sent it looks reddish brown and brackish. I'm sure it's nasty at this time. Yes, our boxer had a tough time it seems.
He's losing fur by the handfuls. Probably stress from the storm. My husband took a pic of him looking down the balcony stairs at all of the surrounding water and said he looks like he's thinking "wtf".
Many people from the north shore and Laplace are saying that now that the levees held and water could not enter the city the surge in the lake has nowhere to go. Also, New Orleans has massive pumps pumping water out of the city/bowl into the lake. All of that water from the lake has to go somewhere and it now floods areas that have NEvER seen this kind of flooding. The Army Corp of Engineers was on the radio earlier and said they promise to look at their new Orleans levee plans and re-evaluate. This makes total sense to many people.

Awwww.. Thank you, sweet!
Actually, I'm at the Radisson Hotel almost 100 miles away from the action
Just had 2 cosmopolitans (really should have made it 3 ....i could have used a third) and brought a club sandwich up to my room
It's my husband who is toughing it out with no power, no running water, and surrounded by 6' of water. :(
Having said that...my work is yet to come once the water recedes. Clean up is going to be a b*tch!

Club sandwich? That sounds yummy! I'm hungry now!
I will send him safe and healing energy. What is the name of the city again?
Glad you are safe!

Elizabeth Wrote:CourtDude Wrote:Elizabeth Wrote:Ok... Hubby is here safely.
Bo is actually at a Friend's house a few miles from us. She runs an animal rescue, and has Boer Goats. We tried getting in touch with her earlier, but hubby was able to stop by there and talk to her.
We figured it would be best for him there, then in a crate here at my Mother in Laws.
LOL he will actually be on a closed in porch that she has with a huge fenced in area on the porch.
She is so sweet, and was all excited about being able to take care of a little one and bottle feed.
So needless to say, Bo will likely be spoiled rotten by the time I get him back

Here are some pics of him when I first got him a month ago. He was only a week old then, he looks about the same but is MUCH fatter now!

Here is the link to the thread about him.

Hubby reported that the water level has even dropped some. So I'm feeling even better about the situation. Hopefully even if we get water from the dam breaking, at least it will not reach into the house, only maybe the barn/shed. Hubby set up a raised area for the chickens too.
I just pray for all of those that may not be as lucky as we have been.
And I want to give a special thanks to my LOP family. You guys have been such a blessing to me. Helping me take my mind off of what is going on, and feeling your love and support through the words that you all have typed.
Thank You!

I hadn't folowed the thread for while Beth.
My wife and I are glad you are safe.
'Lil Bo is a cutie!!
Thank you dear, give her an hug for me. And here is yours

Its been a trying day, I actually broke down in front of my 13 yr old son today. And Im usually very careful about that sort of thing, I hate to worry him. But when we rushed out this morning from what I was sure to be absolute ruin when we returned, It was just too much.
He had been at my mother in laws through the storm, and though he was in a safer place, I had been worried about him, and apparently him worried about me. He met me at the door and just hugged me so hard. He is almost six feet tall, and in that moment I realized how much he has grown up, and all of the emotion came flooding out of me at once.
I dont think he has ever seen me cry like that. And he just hugged me and said "dont worry mama, as long as we are all together and all safe, nothing else matters. Now come on in, get dried off, and I will make you a cup of coffee."
It was something that an old friend would tell you, and there it was coming from my baby.

made me tear up too
In the end each other is all we have.
