In the recent Firefox 4 upgrade, the default cache size went from 50 MB to about 1 GB. While this may increase speed, it may also create problems, like prolonged cache clear times, when using either Firefox or software like CC Cleaner or TracksEraser. Then upon restarting Firefox, it may take a long time to load as it seems to be rebuilding the cache or something.

One thing to try, empty the cache with Firefox, not with software like CC Cleaner, which has known issues when deleting Firefox cache, opt out in the software options. Also, change the Firefox cache size back to 50 MB or some smaller size (Tools, Options, Advanced).

You should also delete every sessionstore.js script files, which can accumulate for various reasons and slow Firefox down, then it will automatically rebuild automatically. All that's needed is one sessionstore file, although folks have complained of finding hundreds of them in the Profiles folder. Navigate to the Firefox Profiles folder, you may have to show all hidden folders in Windows; Drive, Documents and Setting, User, Application Data, Mozilla, Firefox, Profiles, See directory or in folder.

I did all these things, now Firefox 4 doesn't take ten minutes to clear the cache and it restarts quickly.

THE END

Neat. Thanks for the useful info.

It's always good to encourage non-M$ software.
