41 mag in a light frame seems like a winner.

rubber grips seem like a winner too.

How does it "feel" when you empty it with a cyl full of hot rounds?

Does the lightness make it hurt the hand, and do you think it's too much power for a lady to handle as a ladies purse gun (anti-rape device)??

Again no secret here.. I shoot a lot..It does not hurt the hands.. The recoil is balanced upward..Very Loud...A little big for a purse.. Could a girl fire this.. Yes if she was a seasoned shooter.. I would not give this to a new lady shooter to fire right away.. This can be intimidating.. I would lean towards the Air Weight series for ladies.IBTW guys can carry these to.. Those liking a revolver over the new .380 semi auto pistol market)....5 shot 38 special .. no hammer very compact revolver.. Here is an overview from the internet..http://www.christiangunowner.com/smithandwesson638.html BTW my gunsmith's girlfriend carry's one of these all the time ..

nice looking but the recoil on that thing must be a bear

Nice looking piece.

Firing any .357 requires some adjustment because of recoil but it's not all that bad. The recoil is only slightly higher than your standard 9mm but with IMO better stopping power. It's a matter of what you are used to firing I suppose. I went over to the .357 from mixed caliber shooting decades ago and never looked back. It's a personal preference and I suppose I am biased about it but hey, we all have our quirks right?

chuckle

i have no problem with firing 357 41 45 44 whatever you got
i am just not a big fan of bigbore calibers and superlight weight alloy frames
thats why i made the recoil comment

A few of these supposedly have cracked frame problems... Smith is Mum on the issue.. I will roll my own for this gun.. I will not shoot the Buffalo loads from it...

Thanks, JF. Thanks for the link, too. I bookmarked the home page.

I'm not as interested in your gun now, though. I have a buddy who carries those AirLite guns, so I was interested in something lighter with power; however, your 357PD is not very concealable for carry.

Got it. My buddy who carries the AirLite revolvers graduated to a shoulder holster (he wears open baggy button-down shirts). I know the PM9 well...carried it many years until my wife finally warmed up to the idea of carrying, so I gave it to her. I miss it. Much lighter that the HK P2000SK I carry. I'm thinking of trading back or maybe getting a Kel-Tec like Zimmerman was carrying (not sure if he was carrying the PF-9 or P-11). The P-11 looks good. Hear/know anything about it? I should probably try one out at the range.
