We've got a ton of people out there who have given up on even looking for employment. College kids may be getting jobs to tide them over but they are low-paying jobs such as waiting tables. Middle class income is down several thousands of dollars from 2008. OP, if things are so rosy, then tell me where the good-paying jobs are?

The UI claims are just the numbers of people who have applied. I am opposed to adjusting those numbers for seasonal changes, as the number of claims is all that we need to see if Unemployment is headed up or down.

I was awarded the Student of Today award from the Scottish Rite, but I had no affiliation with them, and I didn't give a speech, they just handed me a plaque, that sorta said I was the smartest kid at that school.

The entire testing process is weird. I was born in 1948, and saw my mother and father come to actual blows in 1953 before they divorced. I was traumatized by the divorce and seeing my parents fighting. I ended up living with my mother and her father in Hyde Park Chicago, and was very withdrawn by the things I had seen. I did not do well at school and was given an IQ test by the City schools and they determined that I was borderline retarded by first grade.

This was a shock to my mother as she was valedictorian of her high school class and my father was Salutatorian of his Medical School class and immediately hired onto staff at the University of Chicago Medical School. My mother's father was a top graduate of Medical School. My Great Grandfather was the world famous naturalist Berthold Neubarth who had contributed most of the specimens to the Chicago Museum of Natural History (The Field Museum) on Lake Shore Drive in Chicago. He died in 1911 when bitten by a shark in Florida. He sent the shark that he had subsequently speared after the lethal bite to the Museum with a sign on it proclaiming, "This is the Shark that killed me. Sincerely Berthold."

With that ancestry, how was I retarded? The answer was, of course, that I (a five year old) was in emotional shock over the confrontation between my mother and father. My mother would not even let me open the door for my father when he arrived from ten thousand miles away where he was employed (American Samoa) to see his children after they had been gone for a year. He knocked and knocked, but mom would not let me greet him. This kind of immature behavior by my parents made me withdraw into a cocoon and I was not a good participant in life. I just wanted to be left alone while my mind tried to sort all of the pain and frightening emotional conflicts out. I was very introverted by the emotional pain I suffered and stayed introverted until Seventh Grade (Where all of a sudden I won the "First Ever Grant Junior High School Creative Writing Contest" with a poem that I wrote in about ten minutes in my math class and also won the twist contest with a very curvacious Mexican Girl named Elisa Campos who danced with me for the contest but otherwise refused to have anything else to do with me. Chicano Pressure to not associate with the Gringos! In my heart I was Mexican, and my first fiance would be Mexican, too when I was 24. That Mexican association thing was best explained by the following paragraph.

At the age of ten I went to live with my father who lived in California with his wife, the Samoan Royal Princess, his fourth trophy wife. (My mother was his third trophy wife. YOU can see them all at my Facebook site.) We immediately moved to tropical Mexico (the state of Colima) where I lived with and befriended a bunch of Mexican Nahuatle Speaking Indians/farmers (1958). I was down there for a year and a half but returned to California where I started Fifth grade.

All of a sudden the school tests said I was smart and no longer retarded. I tested extremely high on their Scholastic Aptitude tests and by Seventh Grade Stanford University was given the right to order me to take IQ tests for the rest of my life, because they had a program that tracked the Extremely Gifted White students. I had the highest IQ in the history of my High School, but did not graduate at the top of my class. I got A's in College. It took years to learn how to study, and with that learning came the top grades.

You might have noted that I pointed out the high number of suicides in our sample group.

I was just smart, but not a super genius like Einstein or Steinmetz or Oppenheimer or ..... All Jews ....(and I was obviously not retarded like the City of Chicago said), but some of those guys (Almost all Jews) were weird. It was all the Jews who killed themselves (with one exception, a girl of Arabic ancestry-- and I am willing to bet that she was Jewish, too, just a forced conversion to Islam because they could save their lives that way.). I have learned over the years that "Genius is Kin to Insanity," and there are a lot of Crazy Jews in the world. (DNA problems because of forced inbreeding in the ghetto. -- So how did so many of them end up with blond hair?)

So according to the IQ tests I am GIFTED. I feel pretty normal, but my mind loves to learn and as I approach 70 years of age I am learning all the time. Now, if I was so smart, I guess I would realize that once I am dead it will not matter. Yet, I love to learn, and my posts on this form will reflect that.

The moral to the story is that if you are emotionally damaged you can be retarded for a season, and if you are in a more stable environment, you can exercise your learning ability.

I do not pat myself on the back because of my high IQ score. That is all relative. It does not matter to me what the score is as long as it proves that I am not a retard. All I wanted to be was accepted by my friends. I worked normal jobs in life, made a few million dollars and retired at age 52 to travel, vacation, and write books. I never took creative writing in college, but have made a million dollars with the book writing. If I can say anything positive about my ancestry, it would be that It is Great to have Good DNA, but not be Jewish as they like to commit suicide!
