Again, I do NOT agree with this measure that passed BUT the majority of the people voted for it. To have SCOTUS overturn what the majority voted for (whether we agree or not) is wrong.

North Carolina passes Gay Marriage ban after lobbying by state religious organizations. Can we tax those churches yet for violating the IRS clause on non-profit organizations not pandering in politics?

Not matter what it may eventually end up in court. They passed a law that bans gay marriage. It means if you are the same sex then you can't get married in the state. What happens when a gay couple gets legally married in another state and has benefits and then moves to North Carolina. Suddenly one state says it is okay and another says it isn't. What happens then? I hate big brother as much as the next guy, but what happens when states totally disagree on something like this?

It's in the State Constitution now, unless it's over-turned by SCOTUS or the State Courts:
Amendment One defines marriage as "one man and one woman" as the "only domestic union that shall be valid or recognized in this state."

They see people leave or not move to that state. The 10th Amendment and the Constitution puts the majority of the power in the hands of the States AND, theoretically, the people. That is, if we actually were following the Constitution. Sigh

Obviously, there were enough signatures on a petition to have this put on the ballot so it could be voted on by the people. This is why I always get so frustrated when people say "voting doesn't count". OK, going off on a tangent and just about to go to bed.
