Nuclear Fraking
I just though I'd bring up this odd bit of information its from my neck of the woods and I know a bit about it so I though I'd share.

As part of the Plowshares project the government conducted 3 underground nuclear explosions in the western US. Using a 40 KT(Rulison), 33 KT(Rio Blanco), and a 29 KT (Gasbuggy). The ostensible purpose of the project was to liberate natural gas from the formations, which it did quite well however the gas was contaminated and the wells and surrounding areas have been sealed for some time.

I only bring this up as this is not the only example of the Plowshares project. The mechanisms involved are worth understanding.

I know a bit about the oilfield and engineering so if you got a question about that or a related topic I'll do my best to answer.

I have worked very near that field many times, but no the project was DOE I think and back in 1969 I think which was a little before my time

Anything to do with weakening structures?

Obvious in a case.. but what about repurcussions, sinkholes, radiation leaks?

Yeah I know people but its not at all like you guys think it is. I myself am not some big player (by design). Is it going according to plan? Well I can say the industry has seen worse days. Most of the people in the industry are just trying to feed their families. If they are a source of animosity for you then I would say you are mistaken.

Well in the case of the formations involved they basically sealed themselves. The scale involved is quite large and the vaporization, powder and crush zones are not that large.

There really isn't contamination going on. I know first hand because I have ran radio-logical logs on wells very near there.

I gathered there is a large scale involved.. so nothing you would consider hazardous since?
