If he would be 'the president that legalized drugs', the conservatives would have a field day. It would fit perfectly in their narrative that he is only here to destroy America and bring chaos.

So what? That narrative won't get anywhere when the tax money comes in from the newly legalized drugs, especially if it was used to reduce everyone's federal taxes.

The most dangerous drugs are already legalized. Not just legalized, but advertized like crazy on every tv channel. Alcohol and big pharma..........we are saturated with them.
Add all the illegal drugs combined and they are no where near as damaging and addictive as Alcohol.

Doesn't it get absurd at some point to keep certain drugs illegal which only gives power, money, and guns to drug gangs.........gangs which are now in every single major American city???? Legalize them and the drug gangs disappear.

If you do not support legalization, then you support drug gangs and all their murders and violence.

Which is worse?

We were bait and switched.

He has actually done much more to crackdown on medical marijuana legalization than Bush did during 8 years.

All his medical marijuana voters back in 2008 would have been much better off if a Republican had won. Sad but true.

Well of course, if they legalized drugs then they wouldn't be able to fund their black budget operations anymore with drug money.

EXACTLY! This is the #1 reason now why politicians want to keep drugs illegal. It flies in the face of all logic to say that legalizing drugs "is not the right way to stop cartels." BULLSHIT! That is like saying taking ammo away from your enemy is not the right way to stop a war. Cartels exist only because drugs are worth more than gold. ONLY because of that. Legalizing drugs would render them impotent immediately. However anyone in power who threatens cartel business would be killed very quickly and they know this so they are nothing but cowards.

That's a very conservative viewpoint on drugs and the long-held failed policy. I wonder what the hell got into him that would make him say something like that?

He says what he's told to say. Come to terms with that fact.

President Barack Obama continued his opposition towards legalizing drugs, including marijuana, this weekend ahead of the Summit of Americans in Colombia.

“I don’t mind debate around issues like decriminalization,” Obama said. “I personally don’t agree that’s a solution to the problem. But I think that given the pressures a lot of governments are under. Under resourced, overwhelmed by violence, it’s completely understandable that they would look for new approaches. and we want to cooperate with them. I don’t think legalization of drugs is the answer.”

This is a bit surprising to me, I thought Obama was one of those extreme drug-pushers that want to legalize heroin and other hard drugs.

you can't be serious?
that was sarcasm right?

i love ron paul, and maybe he would do such a thing because he is old and has lived a long life and pretty much doesn't give a f*ck

but obama romney or anybody else who wants to cement their legacy and live would never do such a thing
merck would send a team of private assassins before pen ever came to paper

Of course.

We just had W. He smoked dope. Did Cocaine.

So did Clinton.

AND OBAMA of COURSE.

Obama probably still smokes pot.

George and Bill are probably drinking bourbon and snorting coke RIGHT NOW.

Off Obama's butt.
