For most Americans, the ideal meal is fast, cheap, and tasty. Food, Inc. examines the costs of putting value and convenience over nutrition and environmental impact. Director Robert Kenner explores the subject from all angles, talking to authors, advocates, farmers, and CEOs, like co-producer Eric Schlosser (Fast Food Nation), Michael Pollan (The Omnivore’s Dilemma), Gary Hirschberg (Stonyfield Farms), and Barbara Kowalcyk, who’s been lobbying for more rigorous standards since E. coli claimed the life of her two-year-old son. The filmmaker takes his camera into slaughterhouses and factory farms where chickens grow too fast to walk properly, cows eat feed pumped with toxic chemicals, and illegal immigrants risk life and limb to bring these products to market at an affordable cost. If eco-docs tends to preach to the converted, Kenner presents his findings in such an engaging fashion that Food, Inc. may well reach the very viewers who could benefit from it the most: harried workers who don’t have the time or income to read every book and eat non-genetically modified produce every day. Though he covers some of the same ground as Super Size Me and King Korn, Food Inc. presents a broader picture of the problem, and if Kenner takes an understandably tough stance on particular politicians and corporations, he’s just as quick to praise those who are trying to be responsible – even Wal-Mart, which now carries organic products. That development may have more to do with economics than empathy, but the consumer still benefits, and every little bit counts.

They should change the name. "Occupy" was such a monumental flop. They had no demands....except "Change" (unspecified change - except for having the government pay their school loans off) It had no cohesive message and no point.

This movement has a clear cut agenda - it seems.

With the FED, Monsanto, Wall Street and so many other corrupt powers in control, we are in a world of hurt.

It was good that the occupy movement had the potential to make change without violence. But, there were too many bases to cover and their message was confusing.

It looks like the only way for real change will be with bloodshed. I fear that that will be the next step in the pursuit of real change.

I'm not against OWS. It's nice to see people protesting, but I agree with your comment. They had no specified well-thought-out demands, and therefore, were doomed for failure...sort of like the Children's Crusade. (Child-like minds)
Anyone protesting or resisting GMOs has my support! I've been avoiding, and thereby, boycotting GMOs for several years now. I try to inform others of the dangers of GMOs and encourage people to buy organic, or better yet, start their own organic garden. The best way to be sure the food you eat is healthy and safe is to grow it yourself.

I totally agree. It's sad that we can't make the world a better place without violence, but TPTB refuse to allow the peaceful to be the change we wish to see. TPTB don't want a better world for all, only a better world for them, with the people as their mindless slaves. They can only push us so far...history repeats itself, and revolution is on the horizon once TPTB have gone too far. IMO, they have already gone too far, but most Americans, at least, preffer to keep their heads buried in the sand, or pascified by the propaganda.

I betcha if they got a decent following of folks protesting that I could stop by with GMO foods all prepared for them and they would blindly eat em.

A small California biotech company, Epicyte, in 2001 announced the development of genetically engineered corn which contained a spermicide which made the semen of men who ate it sterile. At the time Epicyte had a joint venture agreement to spread its technology with DuPont and Syngenta, two of the sponsors of the Svalbard Doomsday Seed Vault. Epicyte was since acquired by a North Carolina biotech company. Astonishing to learn was that Epicyte had developed its spermicidal GMO corn with research funds from the US Department of Agriculture, the same USDA which, despite worldwide opposition, continued to finance the development of Terminator technology, now held by Monsanto.

In the 1990’s the UN’s World Health Organization launched a campaign to vaccinate millions of women in Nicaragua, Mexico and the Philippines between the ages of 15 and 45, allegedly against Tentanus, a sickness arising from such things as stepping on a rusty nail. The vaccine was not given to men or boys, despite the fact they are presumably equally liable to step on rusty nails as women.

Because of that curious anomaly, Comite Pro Vida de Mexico, a Roman Catholic lay organization became suspicious and had vaccine samples tested. The tests revealed that the Tetanus vaccine being spread by the WHO only to women of child-bearing age contained human Chorionic Gonadotrophin or hCG, a natural hormone which when combined with a tetanus toxoid carrier stimulated antibodies rendering a woman incapable of maintaining a pregnancy. None of the women vaccinated were told.

It later came out that the Rockefeller Foundation along with the Rockefeller’s Population Council, the World Bank (home to CGIAR), and the United States’ National Institutes of Health had been involved in a 20-year-long project begun in 1972 to develop the concealed abortion vaccine with a tetanus carrier for WHO. In addition, the Government of Norway, the host to the Svalbard Doomsday Seed Vault, donated $41 million to develop the special abortive Tetanus vaccine. 12

Your collection methods seem sloppy, I guess. You forgot to keep track of your online links and your printed sources. A general caveat in your signature isn't enough to cover your backside. Why risk lawsuits?
