good luck with this,

if you can't meet a decent person face to face just living, really may say something about yourself.

my .02 cents...

5 stars out of pity

Have no pity for me my friend except that my wife is divorcing me and leaving me for another man.

I have plenty of character and wit, etc, but I'm pretty hurt right now and, quite frankly, I don't give much of a damn.

If you can't relate, I'm happy for you. This is the worst time in my entire life.

You may want to get yourself in order, unless you want to bring someone else down.

Do you actually have discussions on when the last time you had sex?

Sometimes it's obvious from their wording..

"My last relationship was in 2006..."

but yes, I'd say we get into the sex discussion on one out of every four dates. Sometimes it's the second date. I'm shocked at how many women I meet that have had years of celibacy, and it's often associated with divorce & a small child, and they just quit having sex until kid reaches 18.

I think with women sex and relationships are two different things.

The online dating scene benifet and supports women's insecurities. Window shopping is one of their favorite activities.

Perhaps but I don't goof with them.

That's the equivalent of me saying my last job was in 2006.

"Well, money and jobs not the same thing..."

Yeah, sure, whatever you say.chuckle

Maybe those women don't jump into dead end relationships and are actually taking the time to find the right person.

Jhikpghf

Op it takes time & a woman you're not connected to emotionally isn't going to help ease the pain of divorce either.

I appreciate all the feedback so far. Sounds downright f_ing scary honestly.

I've only been with one woman in the past 7.5 years. A first date is kind of a scary idea.

It's really NOT scary. You "qualify" people before meeting them. There are lots of nice people who do online dating. Many people find themselves in similar situations as you...married and now finding themselves single in a "dating world" we don't know.

If I can offer any advice. Be yourself - use your gut. And when/if you DO meet someone - make the initial meeting short and sweet. Coffee or a walk somewhere - that way you aren't stuck with someone you haven't clicked with over a long dinner.

I can tell you that I've used online dating for about 4 years and met some very nice people. IT takes time obviously to find a suitable person but...I have. Good Luck to you and don't be scared....think of it as an adventure!

We are not living together but are talking about the long term.

Desperation.

OP, here's another warning sign. I quit doing sex on the first date (except in special agreed-upon circumstances) because the women invariably tried to turn it into a marriage with a few weeks or months. (see quoted comment).

Talking about marriage at month two is crazy talk but I've had it happen to me several times and I've seen it with other men.

Crazy talk.

He's the one talking marriage. I did it once and never thought I'd do it again.

I've never created a dating site acct, and could never see myself doing such.

It wreaks of desperation to me.

yeah, I believe it.

One of my friends is about 30 and doing quite well, financially. Last month I saw him at a party flashing a photo on his phone and she was cute enough. I asked, "Wow, how did you meet her?"

"Well.. that's the thing. I haven't yet".

And she'd already stood him up once.

So this week i found out he got The Call.
Poor sap.
Desperation.
Too desperation, too quick to read too much meaning.

Are you a chinese jet pilot?

So you would prefer women that jump into relationship after relationship over ones that take their time?

Don't care.
I only care about whether they'll jump in bed or not.

Most of the women my age are still deluding themselves that somehow they'll live forever, they'll have a "white picket fence" relationship, happily-ever-after fairy princess saved by prince charming bullshit.

this is it, baby.
This is ALL we get.
And you're pissing it away on fantasies.

No, I don't goof with that type anymore, except for when I goof up and let one slip by on a first date. Unfortunately, that's like 2/3rd of all women.
