The Web Browser called Opera is what you get as a backup / second choice to firefox, not Google Chrome. Since Google Chrome is advertised, people only know of Chrome & not Opera. Google is a known Intelligence Asset.

Then use chromium the open source one. Or one of the many forks that are developed for privacy.

Not having a go at opera, the team there have built a great browser and engine, but if you're going to post about chrome you should be mentioning the open source'ness of it.

Opera's a good browser. It's main strength used to be it's portability, it ran on many platforms.
That being said ... webkit (chrome's engine) runs on many more platforms, is faster, more efficient and more accurate.
Just run chromium, if you're still not sure about it, you can always review the source chuckle

Watch out, Facebook and Opera are in talks for a purchase. That is if the stock doesn't implode first.

Which would make it your third choice, after Mozilla and Comodo Dragon, that should be your first choice.
Comodo Dragon is built on Google Chrome technology, without all the security issues.

It's super fast and reliable, my first choice, you should check it out if you don't know it. Together with Comodo Internet Security (free!) you'll have a system as secure as it gets (unless you are emplyed in NSA).Heartflowers

That's just a rumor so far.

I'm afraid this is not true. Presto (Opera's engine) runs on many more platforms than WebKit. Opera works on even low-end smartphones but WebKit doesn't. Opera is on just about any device you can imagine. They even had a prototype for a refrigerator!

Also, Presto is far more efficient (since it can run on lower end hardware than WebKit). That means it's faster in general too.

I won't comment on accuracy because that seems like something that's impossible to measure.

RE: Opera Browser is the backup for Firefox, not Chrome by NSA Google.
Ever since Firefox decided to implode with it's buggy revisions, every few weeks, I haven't found a browser I like, and so I feel stuck with chrome. Chrome's interface is idiotic and flash crashes every half hour or so, but it's the best browser out there right now.

Opera just doesn't work for a lot of websites. It's javascript appears to be noncompliant. I can't use it for a lot of financial websites, I just don't trust it.

RE: Opera Browser is the backup for Firefox, not Chrome by NSA Google.
I use some years the Opera... I began to notice lately... new versions the Opera became slow and brake... I considered earlier that the simplest computer is suitable for a browser toy even.... but now opening a toy in a social network I observe a huge expense of random access memory an about gigabyte. Start the Opera became very slow... though I sometimes clean system by means of CCleaner.... though probably in it my operating system which I use 2 years is guilty and I repair.

My opinion is the truth of all the gods.

This is the OP

No because Opera has a poor GUI and it does not allow custom settings either - need RSS feeds, top bar bookmarks, need very specialized About:Config settings to force all cache to RAM. Opera disallows all this, so its Opera that is the backup to Firefox, not Firefox backup to Opera. Opera has a VERY poor GUI and very good engine.
