horn Panicked Republican blames shutdown fallout on ‘Ted Cruz and his acolytes’

In an interview with Gretchen Carlson on her afternoon show on Fox News, Rep. Peter King (R-NY) blamed the swirling negative political fallout from the Republican shutdown of the federal government on “Ted Cruz and his acolytes.” King, like many on the right Tuesday, looked bug-eyed with alarm at the negative feedback that Republicans have been getting for shutting down the federal government to score political points... / snip

“Yeah, that’s right, and that’s Ted Cruz’s fault,” insisted King. “Ted Cruz led us down this path. This was a disaster from the start, I could have predicted this. This is what the leadership should have predicted three weeks ago when they said they’d never pursue defunding because it was going to work against us.”

“It’s his fault, and he wants us to get him out of it,” King fumed. President Barack Obama should have negotiated, sure, he said, “but this is all because of Ted Cruz and his acolytes in the House of Representatives. They led us down this dead end street.”.... /snip

This was their plan ALL ALONG, even BEFORE the last elections.

Tonight Rachel Maddow opened her show with a segment that gets right to the heart of the matter as to why our government shut down tonight. Rachel played an audio recording of Republican Congressman Lynn Westmoreland from Georgia, speaking in September ahead of the 2010 elections. He quite bluntly tells his Republican audience that if the Republicans won control of the House, they would shut down the government. It was a promise to be fulfilled.

Well, I'll give Ted Cruz one thing:

He said he wouldn't budge against certain issues (when he was running against Dewhurst as the incumbent) and he's sticking to it. At least one politician is attempting to stick to his campaign promises.

So far, that alone makes him worthy of his post, in my eyes at least.

“The American Republic will endure, until politicians realize they can bribe the people with their own money.”
- de Tocqueville (1805–1859)

Especially the teabaggers; the Tea Party has turned into a corporatist, far-right bastardization of its original, Libertarian idea.

Seems so from what I see of it all.

I didn't know who Ted Cruz was, but wiki had enough to make me facepalm

Too many people like him in American politics, I think.
